I ordered a Dozier Professional Guides from A.G. Russell two weeks ago. Never handled a Dozier before but I heard nothing but good things about his knives.
I got the pack just the day before yesterday (great service!). Both the knife and the sheath are very well made and fit one to the other perfectly. The knife looks sturdier than I need for the camping tasks I bought it for and the edge is shaving sharp.
The only problem I found is with the grip that is not as secure as I thought for both the scale material (micarta) and the lack of a real hilt.
Since this would have been a user knife, in any situation, wet and slippery hands included, the problem can’t be underestimated.
Am I the only one to have such a kind of problem?
At the end, I think I’ll put the Dozier in my collection and I’ll go on using my Bog Dog, not as much attractive and well finished, but with a much more secure grip!
Any comment and suggestion?

I find that wet Micarta tends to get very grippy. I've used several knives with different grades of Micarta in the kitchen and never had a problem.

I have a few Doziers myself, and used the smallest one, a Canoe, quite a lot, often with cold water, washing the food and slicing and rinsing the knife, and slicing more.

Try it out before you put it away. It might surprise you. If there is one thing Bob Dozier's knives are designed for, it's real-world use.

Yes, definately try it out before you put it away. If you still think it's slick, send it to Bob Dozier and have him blast the handles. That will take the shiny finish off and leave you with a grippier dull finish. I've done it to all of my Doziers and havent had a problem with them slipping when wet with water or blood.

Well these guys have covered everything well.
I'd slice a roast or some other messy, bloody and wet thing.

I find the blasted handles way grippier than non. So after you play with it a bit, if you like call Bob and send it in. Sozier is really made for real user situations.

DON"T make it a safe queen.....MY GOSH!!!!

Like Esav says, try it first before you retire it. If you don't like it or don't want to bead blast it, you could also try getting the handles checkered.

Bear, I'm a big fan of Dozier knives,I own 4, and have one on the list.I have read in the forum on Dozier's site a guy who sent his out to have the handle checkered, like a gun stock, for grip. The one thing I like is that the blades are so sharp, cleaning a deer is easy, you never are really putting to much pressure into any cuts. Also, the micarta, believe it or not, gets a little sticky with mammal blood on it.However, the last knifeI got from them is an x-large fillet,7-1/2" blade,I,m going to use this mainly on very large stripers we get,but after seeing the knife,my buddy said we'd better wait til we're on land to use it.On awet slippery boat going up and down,FOGETABOUTID,that knife is way too intense to have a mishap with.Bob D. makes awesome user knives, but I don't think he's ever been out to the Fisher Is. Race.Talk to ya,VCM
