If they would make one out of BG-42, plain edge, blade length about 3.5 and not more than 4 inches, .125 inch thickness, big belly drop point with satin finish and Zytel slab handles.. completed with a concealeax sheath from On/Scene or Survival Sheaths, I would get it for sure! :D Just one stout little knife! :) Its specs are so detailed hope this won't be only a wishful thinking. :D Anyone with me?? :D

3.5 to 4 inch length, and 1/8 thick, with Zytel slabs,... the big belly drop point, I don't know... would you settle for some re-curve?

Check out the Field Pup; it fits most of your wants. It isn't one of the new super steels, but it is a very good steel, (and well heat treated) and carries a very reasonable MSRP. :)

It is a VERY comfortable knife to use! Great bang for the buck...

ROTFLMAO:D Thanks for the laugh. Had a lousy day at work and a mood swing a little while ago (Low blood sugar induced mood swing). But that just made my evening.:D

Have work at 6:00am tomorrow so it's off to bed for me. More SOG action tomorrow.:D

What are you - a student or something??? ;) Go get some sleep!

Nope, I'm not a student right now. This is my first week of my first 40 hour a week job so of course I get scheduled to work Saturday. And of course, they just have to give me the 6:00am shift. New Employee initiation or something like that.

But, getting back on track.lol

TOK, I think the Field Pup should fit the bill nicely. Plus, at under $50 it won't hurt your pocket book to bad.;)

...on-line you can probably do better still... ;)

Humm... I have been waited long enough.. I think I would just go get a X-42 Field Knife and grind the blade to 4 inches....:D just kidding. :D

That BG42 is "fun" to grind... (and field sharpen, or so I'm told...)

Handle the Field Pup, and let me know what you think.;)

I can't wait to sharpen my X-42 AutoClip.

TOK, Get the Field knife or Field Pup. Either will serve you well. I'll be doing some Dutch Oven Chicken today and my Field Pup is on kitchen duty.:D

I like the Pup but I think I would probably go get the X-42 Field Knife because somehow I am just getting hooked to that steel. :D And Wildmanh, what did u mean by saying that u can't wait to have the X-42 Autoclip sharpened? I mean u can do it anytime, right?

BG42 holds a great edge. If the Field Knife is anything like my X-42 Autoclip, it should hold an edge for a long time.:D

I've just heared that BG42 is a pain to sharpen, which doesn't sound to bad. I guess I'm more worried about scratching up the Tini coating more than I already have.

Ya know, all this BG-42 talk has me goin' crazy.

First off, way back a few months ago I bought the X-42 Recondo.... and I still haven't figured out how to sharpen that chisel grind !! My pal Tim now has it, maybe he can figure it out, I sure have not been able to. And Tim says I ruined it in my attempts, so I hope he can figure it out.

Then a couple of weeks later I bought the X-42 Field Knife which has a "real" edge to it. By "real" I mean non-chisel, which is something I might be able to deal with.
Anyway, Tim is a wizard at sharpening and put an edge on the Field Knife that is incredible !! I thought the edge on my SOG Bowie was sharp, but Tim has shown me what "scary sharp" really means.

So all of this to say that if you want BG-42: don't mess about, just get the Field Knife and be happy forever !!

Cheers,

Carl
