Well these next statements are not the actual knife laws of CA but are in my opinion would be the most logical and reasonable laws to have for California
All knives( including balisongs fixed blades dirks daggers switchblades ect.) under 4.5 inches may be concealed with pocket knives with the clip showing or traditionally/require two hands not to be considered concealed.
Blades over 4.5 inches maybe open carried with open carry meaning the knife can be identified
no knife shall be considered concealed if cover by a rain poncho jacket ect due to rain or other weather or environmental issues
Knives in backpacks bags or in a car cannot be considered concealed
Concealed blade permit: allow concealed of any bladed weapon
requirements for permit would be similar to that as handgun permit except it would be be shall issue
So give opinions on what you think or how to improve or even post what your dream knife laws would be

I don't know about every county or city in California (some have their own laws), but California STATE LAW allows both the conceald carrying or open carrying of ANY SIZE manual folder, one-hand opening or two. If it's a switchblade, then the blade can't be longer than 2 inches. Also, the law allows for the open carrying of ANY SIZE fixed-blade.

Aside from those cities/counties that have stricter laws, I'd say we've got it pretty good. Down here in San Diego we use the state laws described above.

I would like to be able to legally conceal a fixed-blade, but we can't have everything. I consider myself lucky with the laws the way they are. But of course they could be better.

I also wish we could import larger switchblades.

I have a much better idea inspired by the states of Vermont and Arizona:
1. No restrictions shall be placed on the transportation, possession, carrying, sale, transfer, purchase, gift, devise, licensing, registration or use of a knife or knife making components.
2. A political subdivision of this state shall not enact any ordinance, rule or tax relating to the transportation, possession, carrying, sale, transfer, purchase, gift, devise, licensing, registration or use of a knife or knife making components in this state.

Those would be my perfect, dream laws. For any state for that matter.
Last time I checked, none of the states where there are effectively no knife laws have degenerated into cesspools of murder and armed robbery. Something to think about.

Glad I live in Maine. 2nd amendment is followed here by "that right shall never be questioned." There is absolutely NOTHING in our books regarding knives WHATSOEVER.

I wish we could manufacture ballistic knives.

I was over in Germany. we had them over there. I was in the army. boy are they bad. I can see why the USA does not allow them in the country. I support that law too. it is like having a gun with a silencer on it. they need to be outlaw world wide but that is just my opinion. What do you need a knife like that for any way?? You cant use it to cut any thing. I think it is worthless as a knife.

Except Title 2, §2001-A "Threatening display of or carrying concealed weapon," which states it's illegal to wear under one's clothing or brandish with "bowie knife, dirk, stiletto or other dangerous or deadly weapon usually employed in the attack on or defense of a person."

Just sayin'.

Unless they repealed this specific statute in the past 2-3 years?

I was kidding. I know there's no way they'll ever lift the ban. They do seem fun though.

Oh boy they where fun. I don’t know how much extra duty I have to pull for the damage walls where we miss the dart board. we where playing as GI Joe do but if you take a really good look at it they are a very good killing knife. I am very glad that they are not allowed in our country. I am willing to bet that they where made during a time of war. We all talk about our knifes. How to sharpen them what do you do when this breaks and etc. This can not be used as knife that we use today

Fortunately I don't display mine in a threatening manner, I'm pretty sure a table knife could fall into this category. My knives are for tasks.
