My Dream Knife - Perrin Folder

You all may remember me as the guy who thinks Spyderco makes the best fixed blade knives in the world. I especially like the Perrin. In fact I have two that are kept in the kitchen as utiliity and steak knives.

The grip on the Perrin fits my hand perfectly. It feels like I have a blade sticking out of my hand rather than I'm holding a knife.

What I would really like is a compression lock Perrin folder with exactly the same handle and whatever size bowie or spear point blade fits into it.

Wierd. I was thinking it would be really cool if there could be a folder with the Perrin blade in it, mabye shortened a bit. The handle is nice, but I like the blade better. Besides, only a sorta small blade could fit in the handle as it is.

If by sorta small you mean 3.5 inches, yes. I fooled around with some ideas last night and I think a 3.5 inch blade is possible. The handle allows some width for the blade so the blade could be quite substantial. I'm going to try some more ideas next week, maybe build a cardboard model. It may be possible to lengthen the handle a bit to gain more blade length without destroying the feel that makes the fixed blade such a great knife.

Be interesting to see what Fred Perrin thinks of this idea.
