The knife is Gen-O Dennings "GM" model.
I bought it from Les Robertson on Saturday after eyeing it for 3 hours on Friday! Had a real fine time talking with Les too. Thanx man.
I didn't think I'd ever own a mirror finish blade, and now I can't stop 'rolling' it in the light. The mirror finish obviously doesn't scan too well. Trust me, its flawless!
The awl/steel/ice pick was made by Keidoh Sugihara from Osaka Japan.
He had some interesting stuff on his table, like wood handled "snap off" blades. If he made them for the large sized blade I would have scooped that up, since I use one alot at work.
Great show, great knives and best of all...
Great people :D

I don't yet have one, but Geno's knives would make anyone pleased. Good score.

Boy, those Japanese makers were there in force! All had unique and well-designed pieces. Hope they return again and again.

Wally, did you see Dave's (AKA Lifter) Model #6 Denning that he got from Les on Friday?
It's funny when you're at a show and JW Denton is there with all of the real Loveless knives and you can compare them to all of those Loveless style knives by other makers. GenO Denning's knives stand out, not only for the exceptional workmanship, but also as a great value. The first custom I bought was a Denning #6 from Les, you can't go wrong with either one. ;)

That is a great knife you got from Les. Geno makes some of the highest value knives around. The fit and finish are obviously excellent. Are you planning on using this knife? That is the only problem I have with a mirror finish.

I saw those picks on Keidoh Sugihara's table, but I passed them over in favor of one of his beautiful little friction folders that's tight as a drum, extremely sharp, and mirror-finished, for so cheap! Comfortable, usable friction folders are somewhat hard to find among the tacticals, antiques, and precision slipjoints at some of the shows.

Hey Ebb,
Nice score. As you know, I got your knife's big brother on Friday :D

Well Dave made my pick a whole lot easier by gettin' the big one out of the way ;)
I was torn between the 2 stag & the buffalo Dennings...
The stag won out, I guess you could say that I had a "PhilL" moment :D
Yes I do plan to use it...albeit carefully. No mumblety peg for this beauty. That was my initial reservation about the mirror finish. But you know what? It'll be fine after that 1st smudge is on the blade :) If PhilL can use his Fowler, who am I to not use this beauty?!!
I keep telling myself that I'm not going to buy a knife that I won't use.
Then again, I told myself (once upon a time) that I wouldn't spend over $100 on a knife either. Or get more than one custom...or...well, you know how it goes!

Great score, Ebbtide! (You too, Dave. ;)) I was wondering what you were going to wind up getting. You made a real nice choice with the GM. One of Geno's stag chute knives has been on my wish list for a while.

I couldn't pass up on that sweet little awl/steel/ice pick either. I spent some of my remaining money on one of those & a wood handled snap-off blade utility knives. (I christened it right yesterday by opening the box containing my new Siegle. ;)) Keidoh Sugihara had the right idea in bringing along some low cost goodies like these to eat up the last of our pocket money. :D

Eight months & counting until the November show. ;)
