My EDC’s Need Emergency Help

So about 10 of my EDC’s were closed but laying out and my son was helping clean today. He sorta went bonkers with Lime Away and the massive overspray got on all of the topside of all my knives. I didn’t notice this for about six hours until he finally showed me the bottle (I was trying to figure out why the mirror had such a bad film). Then, later I noticed my knives. AAAAGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I can’t tell if it actually stripped the finish on my knives, burned the metal, or left an incredibly stubborn film. It’s on all of the blades; top side only whether stainless steel, carbon steel, and even some of the handles have an opaque film. I’ve tried mineral oil, Goo B Gone, general purpose cleaner, vinegar, and WD-40. Each of them helped a small amount, but my knives are still gunked up. Man, I’m sick over it. Any tips? Hopefully I’m not making it worse. Would love to know of something that will clean them right up.

I would try warm water soaking, as sulfamic acid or urea sulfate in Lime Away should be water soluble, so as salts formed with calcium and iron.

This from their website:

10. Does LIME-A-WAY® work on all stainless steel, brass and chrome fixtures? Is there any metal fixture on which I should not use LIME-A-WAY®?

Keep in mind when cleaning a shower or sink area, LIME-A-WAY® contains ingredients that could etch or discolor metal. The products can be used on some chrome and stainless steel fixtures. Follow all instructions on the product label. Test a hidden area prior to use.

After applying the product, promptly wipe and rinse the area thoroughly to avoid damage. For full details and precautions, please see the product label. LIME-A-WAY® is not recommended for use on other metallic surfaces for risk of discoloration or other types of damage

I'd contact them and see if they have any recommendations.

Users. Like dropping and dinging a nice EDC.

Does your son have a knife? Save one of those for when he's older.

Call the folks that know. "You can contact us by phone on 1-800-228-4722."
I didn't realize it, but that's the number for lysol who make the solution mentioned. I thought it was a spam post. My bad.

So after these recommendations, are you going to chime back in L LeeBo337 ?
Have you tried anything? Any luck getting them back?

Any photos?
