Lives in my RHF front pocket at work , I use it to cut boxes ,tape , strapping and pallet wrap. On weekends it's still in my RHF pocket :) some character marks image.jpg and another pic image.jpg I need to buy a proper in pocket sheath for it . Love this knife. Do you EDC your 14? If so what does it mostly get used for?

My 14 goes everywhere I go. This morn, it froze it's ass off on our way to work on my motorcycle. It gets used frequently for work duties and household chores. When not in use, it resides in it's sheath affixed to my bag

Nice! My 14 is currently being used for my steak knife and other food use, especially when I'm bushwalking and take fruit with me. I stripped mine and it's getting a nice patina now.

I EDC my BK14 when the weather's warmer. It rides clipped to the side pocket of my cargo pants.

Thanks for the replies :) it's pretty amusing when someone at work asks me if I got a knife , they're expecting a Stanley knife haha. And I won't let them use my 14 I'll do the cutting for them

When someone at work asks me for a knife, they get a nice surprise when I open my bag 'o blades! Especially when I pull out my bk7 and ask "will this do the job?"

Very interested in this as I just ordered a 14. Always wanted a small fixed blade. Just didn't think it would get used much.
Great forum guys!

You'll be surprised. Since I first got my 14, I pretty much stopped carrying folders. No dirt that blocks a pivot, easy to clean, great design. When you strip it, the carbon steel blade develops a lot of character... There's nothing you won't like about the 14. While you're at it, I suggest you get the zytel scales as well ;). They are really comfortable.

Thanks! I'll check them out. Cleaning fish with a folder is a mess. Spend more time cleaning the folder!

Sorry to get off track with the thread, Auss.

lol nice.

No need to apologize bubba , I'm pretty sure you could clean a fish with a 14. I'm gonna plus one that you get the zytel handle scales , they're pretty joy , and come with two sets of scales , one orange , one black , and two sets of screws. So later on if you decide you want a 24 aswell , you've already got some scales for it too :)

The BK14 has been my EDC for 3 years. I don't go anywhere without it. At first in a stock sheath in my back pocket with a para cord wrap on the handle. The para cord wraps hold moisture and funk and just get gross after a while. It was a big improvement when KABAR released the Zytel handles.

I carry mine in my front pocket in my leather pocket sheath now. It is everything I want in an EDC. Even on camping/hiking/fishing trips when I have a bigger Becker with me this one is always in my pocket, its just doesn't feel right without it.

And yes it does a great job cleaning fish!

I usually carry an 11 which is the same blade and use it for a tremendous number of chores.......A couple of weekends ago I was bunny hunting in South Carolina's Low Country and got onto a small "hell" of dammit vines(my personal name for green briars and found it quite useful in extricating myself without looking like I got pulsed several times in a Cuisinart....A machete or a Nine would have been preferable but the 11 got me clear........ It frequently amazes me how much use that 2&1/2 ounce 3&1/4 inch blade really has.........

I chose to put the hi vis orange scales on mine , as it's in a warehouse environment , and hence safer lol. Bugger , now I'm both hungry and want to go fishing :)

I dont carry it as much as I would like because of the factory sheath, but when I get around to either making or buying a sheath it would make a nice pocket FB.

Great edc blade. My son & I prefer the 11. He used his today on a rabbit & snow goose.
Thats my boy;)
