A was playing around with my digital camera at work today. Seeing as my EDC is always with me, I thought I'd snap a few pics.

Just thought I would let you know your pics posted fine. I like the cord wrapping on your EDC, adds some personality to the knife IMO.

Do you have the 420HC version or the Blade Forum 154CM? And how do you like the knife overall?

Gary

The pictured knife is a 154CM version of the EDC, although I also have a 420HC version. To tell you the truth, I like the 420HC version more and more very day. Camillus has a very good 420HC. It holds a pretty good edge, and it’s super easy to resharpen. All it often takes is a quick strop to get it back in action. A lot of people bang on 420HC as being cheap steel, but I’ve grown quite fond of it. It’s simple and functional, just like the EDC was meant to be.

Then again, my ultimate EDC would be talonite………..

Buzzbait,

This is not exactly a knife question. But I am shopping for digital camera. What brand and model do you have? It did a great job with these pics of your EDC.

Just wondering.

To tell you the truth, my digital camera isn't all that great. It's a Fuji MX-1200. There are a lot of digital cameras that would take better pictures and be more versatile.

My best advice is to get a digital camera with a short focal length option. Many digital cameras have a special mode to them that decreases the focal length to a few inches. This makes close-up shots of small objects look very crisp instead of blurry. I believe that my camera has a special 4 inch focal length mode.

I also had very good lighting for this picture. I took the picture at work, in a room which has extremely bright fluorescent lighting. Digital cameras tend to work very well under natural and fluorescent lighting, but terrible under incandescent lighting.

The background for the picture makes a big difference. I experimented with a number of backgrounds before choosing the gray metal bottom of a Cisco router. The contrast between the matte finish on the router and the shiny EDC really brings out the knife.

Lastly, I used a very sharp camera angle for these shots. I took some normal pictures, but they looked pretty boring. I finally decided to get right down to the level of the picture’s subject in an attempt to get some depth into the picture. It worked out pretty well.

Hope this helps.

Buzzbait,

Thanks for the info on the camera. Your EDC looks great. I am thinking talonite EDC at the moment, if I can wait that long.

You know how it is when you have the urge to get something new.

I totally understand that urge!!!! I was holding out for Talonite myself, but ended up ordering an Anniversary Edition EDC today. Maybe I'll throw the Talonite blade in the Anniversary Edition handle when it comes out.

Thats a nice EDC, I really like how you added the cord to it. I think I would like to do the same to my EDC, but all I have is black cord. Can you tell me where you picked up the nice multicolored cord you used? If anyone knows of an internet supplier of various colors and sizes I would appreciate hearing about it.

I have said it before and I will say it again, LOVE the job on that knife!
