Yesterday I picked up a new 1911. I wanted to go to the range to spend some quality time with her, but unfortunately it is too wet and foggy today to do so. So I decided to spend some quality time with my knives. They've been a bit neglected as my guns have gotten most of my attention lately. So I oiled up my large Eye Brand stockman, cleaned up some of gunk that collected in the joints, and took her to the strop. She didn't need much care as she lives a relatively easy life being the daily companion of an office worker, but she definitely deserves it. This stockman has become a trusted companion, doing everything I've asked of it. She opens letters, peels fruit, but most often is used as a worry stone when I need to take some time to reflect. She's a bit large for office carry, but doesn't scare anyone because of her benign appearance. She gets her fair share of attention, but that's because she's so beautiful.

Here she is -

Aging stockman in stag, I love it. Beautifull knife, carbon blades are starting to look nice with that blue-grey patina building up.

Very nice!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Few want to admit it, and don't tell my wife I said this, but that's probably all the knife an average guy needs.

Thanks Jackknife. I had a feeling you would like it. I'm still waiting for a pic of your Granddad's knife. :D

Here's a picture of my Brown Mule. She gets the dirty work. When I first received this knife I didn't much like it. Rough wood scales, not much of an edge. I gave it a chance though. After I sharpened it and put some Tru-Oil on the scales she became quite the little gem.

I for one won't argue with that statement.:)

When I look back on my entire life, I can't think of more than one or two times I needed more than that. Certainly the Randall number 14 I carried was a waste of money and energy. But then, sometimes it takes time to see the truth.

Sorry to bombard you with pictures guys, but as I said I'm feeling a bit stir crazy today.

Here's my picnic knife - a horn handled Laguiole. The image is a bit crappy, but I'm then again I'm not very good with taking pictures. It takes a great edge, and because of its thin geometry zips through food like it's not even there. It doesn't get used much because I don't go on picnics all that often.

I'm glad somebody else uses his EDC the way I do:o. Some nice knives there, and obviously well-liked by their owner, as good knives should be.

Yeah, man, GREAT looking knife. But I'd really like to know more about that newspaper article in the photo. Can't quite put my finger on it, but something about it strikes a chord with me. :D What publication was it in? You don't have the whole text available to post, do you?
