I'm not sure what's going on, I can receive 'em. .. . I just can't send'em. . .. I have 62 emails in my outbox and nothing is moving. .. .

Maybe I need to send one that has the subject: HIGH FIBER! ;)

I'm working on it. Our other company emails are working, it is just my personal that is jammed up.

Is the outgoing mail server still set correctly in the options?

The first or second thing I do when I have a problem is run Norton Disk Doctor or Scan Disk to see it there is a disk error.

The second or first ;) thing I do is to reboot. I am sure you have, but I and others have worked on tricky problems before, only to have it go away upon reboot. Hopefully before previously good settings were messed up by efforts to fix a non-existent problem. Like Internet providers and software people like to do to you. I have had the Internet people want to do all kinds of things to my working computer when the problem is on their end. It might be the internet server having a problem, so leave any drastic remedies for last. I had a friend who had some bad message jamming up the Internet providers server and when that was finally deleted, all worked well.

You might try opening some of your outgoing messages (double click on it) and then clicking the send button within the message, to get it ready to go. (I assume you have the overall send option enabled...just thought of that....it can be set to receive only.) I have had an occasion where I tried to open a message, when I forgot something, but was a little late..it was sending...and it got caught in a sort of limbo. Reopening and sending sometimes works. At worst, open, paste the contents into a new message, and get rid of that one (the computer equivalent of fiber, if you will) Perhaps, it is one message blocking the flow...

Good luck.

Hey Jerry..

I know just how you feel..

My e-mail farted and dumped about 300+ e-mails,,some old some new into about 50 files..

It said.. " Inbox Damaged..Do you want me to rebuild it for you?"

I clicked OK !!! Dang bad mistake....LOL
Seems to be ok now after picking through it all...

As far as spies go..
don't laugh..

I ran Spy Cop on my machine a few nights ago,,and if found a bunch of spy software someone ,,somhow got it in my machine.. I vaporized the spy files,,and its OK now...
There was even a porn dialer installed without me knowing...(Gotta check my LD bill..Yikes!!)

Get a Firewall guys and keep it up!!

Eric....

i know how that goes... my email is sporadic, at best; Juno is not exactly the best or most efficient server, which is what i currently have.
And it's just not one of those things i can fix with a Busse knife either: Drats! :( ;)

Jerry, sounds like you needs a Systems Engineer. Give me a call we can setup a contract for Room/Board/Knives :D Can't blame me for trying, lol

Hey Jerry, To solve this problem, step away from your computer slowly, carefully turn around, and GET BACK ON THE GRINDER!! ;) :D :D

p.s. Since I am also a Sysadmin, maybe D.N. and I could tag-team that stuck email in exchange for INFI.

It may be fixed. . . . I don't know if what I'm sending is going to the right place or not. . .. but it started going out on its own.

I love computers! They just sort of do what ever they want to and I get to stand there and watch it happen ;)

Thanks for your offers Rok and Dark,

I may need to take you up on that offer someday. . . .

Since it "fixed itself" spontaneously, Donald's info on it being something amiss on the ISP's server looks real probable as the culprit. Glad to hear you're back in the sending category email-wise.

RokJok,
It could be, the ISP, and it always easier to see if they fix it. If you call for support, it can be helpful if they check your settings, but when they start advocating changes, it can be a problem. It is not good news when you find the ISP had a problem, it has been fixed for hours/days, but now you still have a problem--because of changes.

It was obviously not the case here, but it is always a good idea to check your cables/plugs. The exact facts have faded but, Once their was a bad storm, ISP had a problem, and I had unplugged the DSL/Modem line. After this my system did not work. The ISP was back up. The DSL modem was now plugged in. (I had not replugged it.) I looked closer, the plug now went from the DSL modem or modem (?) back to the regular modem. With no external connection, no wonder it didn't work. The morass of cords, probably confused someone. Plugged it in correctly and it worked fine.

Always check the simple things first!!!

Here is a humorous story (not to those who footed the bill. :p )

A computer consutant came to a friends firm to replace a constantly malfunctioning hard drive. The consultant grabs the computer case and pulls it out to start work on the replacement. Guess what he found! The side of the computer was covered with those refrigerator magnets. ...probably with all the telephone numbers of the computer user's favorite luncheon spots.

Jerry,

If you need to test your email, feel free to send me a couple. I checked, my email address is in my profile, although I imagine you have it anyway, having sent me one recently. I'll respond that I got it. Further, you can usually set your message to send a receipt, although the recipient has to click, yes, it is OK to send receipt. In Outlook, it is under View, Options.

Donald
