My emerson cqc10 is squeeking, any way to fix it?

My first emerson was cqc8 and it had this glass-on-glass sort of sound when the blade was opening and closing, but that was faint and not noticeable. It also has phosphorus bronze washers I believe.

I just got my cqc10 and I know it has some sort of plastic washers. When opening and closing the blade it's making quite some loud screeching-type sounds. Took it down, cleaned it, oiled it with hoppe's gun oil, and it still makes sounds.

Help please?
 
The best way to fix the noise is to send the knife to me, ill take care of it for you ;)

Stupid, oft repeated jokes aside, i recommend taking the knife part again and removing all oil, or lubricant. One of the purposes washers serve in a folder is to decrease the need for external lubricant. Once cleaned, reassemble and submerge the knife in warm water. Open and close a fe times to remove the last vestiges of oil or grit. If noise persists, take down the knife again, and spend half an hour watching TV and sanding the tang and washers, and liners where the washers interface with them with high grit sandpaper. I recommend going over them with 600, 1000, than 2000 grit paper. when reassembling, be sure to use a small amount of blue loctite on each screw. If possible, try to refrain from disasemebling the knife except for when necessary. When the insides look grungy, clean them out with a canned air blaster like used for cleaning keyboards, and then wash it out with warm water and then dry. Did i mention you could send the knife to me.
 
The washers are "self lubricating" and do not require oil (Nylatron). If you absolutely have to use something to put on the washers, try a little grease. If you have PB washers, your knife has been modified. I have around 13 Emerson knives now and none of them squeak at all.
 
I think the problem took care of itself, the sound is dying down as i use it more- so I guess it was just a breaking in sort of thing. Still, I think I prefer my cqc8 to this. I'll probably list this in hopes of getting a super commander :cool:
