my sheath finally arrived from over the pond, courtesy of Martin Swinkels ( http://martinsheaths.blogspot.com/ ), I had already obtained a Maxped single sheath and my F-1 was itching for some new pants :)

first the quality of the sheath is excellent- fit, finish and construction- the F-1 fits nice and snug, pictures don't really do it justice

the leather belt loop is removable if you wanted something other than belt carry

this is one of Martin's pics shows details of the sheath

the pouch is not overly large, but ample to get some essentials in

right side w/ the LMF Army steel (secured w/ shock cord)- you can see the Photon light tucked into the elastic band

left side w/ 10' hank of 550 (the tail is another 5')- you can see the Fox whistle tucked into the elastic (the whistle and light are tethered together on some Spectra cord and could be placed around the neck)

That looks reeeeally good! I like that new sheath a lot! The kit looks really good too. I really like the F-1, I'm starting to wish I had gotten that instead of the A-1...but I think I'll get past that once I get the blade bead blasted to get rid of the rest of the coating so I won't worry about using it for food prep.

F1 is a great knife Mist.

Mt Warden that is a really nice sheath. I'm looking at making a horizontal one for my F1.

Nice setup.
The F1 has become one of my favorite knifes, which prompted me to do something similar to what you did. I wanted a sheath that would accommodate a fire starter and Fallkniven sharpener and made this. It's made from a modified Ontario sheath and a re-shaped Spec-Ops liner.

^ nice :)

what is the actual sheath that you have fitted in the nylon?- is it snug (albeit you have a retention strap)?

looks like you might have a little room for some cordage on the one side

It has a plastic liner that I put in boiling water and custom molded to the F1. The retention is good enough to shake the sheath upside down with the strap un-snaped.

I was going to wrap some cord around the bottom of the sheath but it didn't fit. I like the way you wrapped the 550 and side mounted it, I'll have to give that a try.

Love this idea and am trying to decide if I could use an Ontario sheath for the RAT5 for my CRK MkIV?
I don't like the original sheath belt loop being on a snap for one thing and there's no way to attach a pouch. I'm thinking I could heat the Kydex liner and reshape it to the MkIV if the sheath is deep enough.

The liner that came with my Ontario sheath was folded clear plastic painted black where it showed. It was very brittle and broke easily. The liner that I molded in hot water was from a Spec-Ops sheath and appeared to be made from flattened black plastic water line (1 1/2"?). This material is very easy to shape right out of the boiling water and retains shaping after cooling. The liner and sheath I used were made for a longer blade so i used the extra length to house part of the handle. More protection for the knife and on trails the rig doesn't ring "knife" to the easily frightened.

It looks pretty good. Kits built around a knife are the best idea for a kit that will always be on your person when out and about, in my opinion. I never take the knife off of my belt, so it the kit is on the knife, it is always with you.

Thanks for the idea. Is this the thin walled rolled up stuff at irrigation garden supply type places?

I got mine from another sheath but it looks just like water line. Whatever it is, it's exactly 2" wide when flattened out to fit in the sheath.
