All good performers. Did you file off those teeth on the striker or do they come like that now? Great photo composition too! I wonder if your writing skills are as good. :p :D

Good photo, Great knife choice!!

I didn't care much for the Zytel shetah at first. But I've gotten at at least accept it.

Hay, their's nuttin' rong with my righting skils, Bustre! :D That's the new stainless striker that comes with all Firesteels. It had an ugly finish on it, so I satin finished it to match the knife blade. I know...too much time on my hands. :o Thanks!

Yep, I went with Zytel because this is my primary backpacking knife. I have an uncanny ability of selecting backpacking weekends when it rains. :D

Thats a nice carry rig. Get a nice light 12" machete to go with it and you're set for life.

Shameless self promotion I love it.:D

Good setup. Add a tarp or even a garbage sack and that would be my base gear.

the zytel sheath was OK, after having one of Martin's (Swinkel) sheath I'd never go back to it :)

I have the F1 with leather dangler and zytel sheath. They are both good , but the zytel one is totally worry free in the wet , knife and all. That is it's greatest advantage. Put a ranger band near the top of it ( around the black plastic flap on the side of the sheath) and retention gets even better

Nice pic composition, great set up.
That F1 is some knife, isn't it?

Is that the little whistle that comes with the Izula thats attached to the firesteel? How is it attached to the 2 ends of paracord?

What brand of compass?

It's a 1985 Silva Director Type 17 made in Sweden. It's been everywhere, in all temperatures, and has never formed a bubble. I don't like bubbles. :grumpy:

It's a ITW Nexus AeroWave whistle. I made all the lanyards out of Chris Reeve nylon cord, not paracord. You can use paracord, but you have to cut out about a half inch of inner strands on each end, so the paracord will fit in the whistle. The cord end on the compass lanyard is a Nexus Aerohead.

Click on the links and there are diagrams to show how both are assembled.

The jacket is a Marmot Precip. I'm too lazy to carry anything heavy. :D
