Anyone ever try to sharpen one on a Sharpmaker? Did it work?

NOT that it will need sharpening for several decades as the super steel is ....supposed.... to last FOREVER.

But......just....in......case....

:D

Yeah, it should work fine on the sharpmaker, though I don't have a U2. I beleive the edge is convexed right? If I was you I would touch it up on the sharpmaker at a regular interval instead of letting it get dull, because if it holds an edge long...it usually takes forever to sharpen. :grumpy:

The sharpmaker will put a bevel on the edge, but whenever you feel the need to put the convex back on, just use a mousepad w/ sandpaper.

My friend uses his U2 quite a bit more than I do and recently, after a LOT of use, told me it only took him a few passes on his diamond stones to bring it back to the edge it came out of the box with. I've had mine for about six months and, though just for office use (box opening, that sort of thing), hasn't dulled a whit. By the way, it's not a convex edge.

Yes, you're right. I checked again, and it's a full flat grind with an edge bevel.

Lavan,
So then yes, you can use it on the Sharpmaker without worry of taking off the convex edge. Just maintain the edge instead of letting it get dull and you will be fine.

I have had mine for almost a year and used it hard for edc and hunting, fishing etc. I have sharpened it frequently with diamonds and cheramic frehand stones. The edge is rather easy to resharpen but I have never let it get realy dull inbetween sharpening. This edge is stronger than other steels I have had but for example easyer to resharpen than my blades in 60 Rockwell ATS-34.
