My Fastest bow drill coal... 8 strokes.

Hi all,

For fun and pracitce I wanted to see how fast i could get a coal with my bow drill. I was using yucca on yucca.
anyways at 8 stokes my yucca spindle came out of the hearth. When I looked down at the notch area there was a coal formed. I thought COOL.

I remember watching survivorman taking hours to do that,I bet he wishes he had some yucca next time.
 
Thanks guys, I have had a willow spindle on a cottonwood hearth that took just 11 strokes. I was really pushing down on it. Most of the time it takes between 20 and 35 strokes with the softer woods. Yucca is just a awesome plant.

Last Nov. I got my video camera and when I got home and got the battery some what charged up I grabbed my hand drill set up and setted out side and shot this one. LOL it is not the great video lol

Yucca on yucca is the way to go every time. I love it. I've got about 20 stalks down in my basement.
