Each has it's own story and memory.

He went through pocket knives like crazy. My sister gave him a new one each birthday as a gift. So he always had a stash of new ones in hiding. Seems like he'd sharpen them away to nothing or break it using it as a screwdriver or something. One thing was guaranteed, if he had pants on he had a knife and that knife was VERY sharp.

My Dad was drafted into the Marines during the Korean War. He was never deployed and served his entire time at Parris Island. Even he didn't understand how that happened. We all assumed this was his ka-bar from that time but there's no way of knowing for sure. I recall helping him build a shed during the hot month of august in south Louisiana. We used this knife to cut the shingles for the roof. You could still see the tar on the knife when I received it.

I have no idea where the double bit axe came from but it was always there. It was also always razor sharp on one side. I recall a huge tree getting blown over during hurricane Betsy and blocking the street. My Dad and the neighbors took turns with it to delimb the huge oak. They finally chained the trunk up to a truck and pulled it over to clear the street. The idea was to clear the streets so the power company could get through to restore power more quickly. Five days later they did. :)

Today I'm going to bust out a few big boy toys and make some memory with my boys. Happy Father's Day to all of you.

Feel free to add in your own special knives and stories.
