There was a large collection of My blades posted 45 of them i think ? and It seemed like the guy that was trying to sell It didnt know much about them RE: price, style, names,
Anyway I worked with my dad from the start . At first it was more behind the seen but as my Dad was more well known I started going to shows and so on.
My point Is a lot of you didnt realize that I have a Great shop on fairview street in Santa Ana Ca. and I still make all the blades In our catalog PLUS A LOT MORE
A nd I would be more than happy to help the gentleman out with the name"s and value of the tools he Isa trying to sale.
I still sharpen for FREE to the first purchaser. And I love to see the old blades, its like a visit with a old friend ,So please bring them In!!
Someone asked a ? Re: what blade was sharper Hartsfield or Emerson? come by the shop and check it out In person.
Thats really the only way to know. But I can tell you this Ernie Is the only maker I know of that had the integrity to say our blades had a big Influence on
his early designs. And I was told he stud up at blade and gave some nice words after my dad passed away[ Thanks Ernie]

Phil Jr,
Sorry to hear of your father's passing.
He was very helpful to me answering some questions about how to heat treat steel when I first started making knives. I just called him and he treated me like a old friend.

I am glad to hear you are keeping the Hartsfield torch alive and well and wish you and your mother the best!

Phil,

You dad made a big impact on me many years ago at several different knife shows in So. Cal. I would stop and talk with him over and over again because the japanese wrapped knives with the working finish intrigued me. Both he and your mom were always so kind and helpful.

Now decades later here I am making chisel ground knives with similar cosmetics and I really enjoy making and using them. Funny how some knifemakers really have an impact on people and your dad was one of those.

Nice to see you on the forums.

The knife community has lost one of it's greatest makers. You have some big shoes to fill sir, but I have no doubt that you will live up to the name and reputation that your father held

Very sad news. I did not know him, but I knew his work. Very talented man.

My thoughts go out to you and all his loved ones.

You do know that Phill Senior passed in 2010, right?

P. Junior has been walking(capeably) in those shoes for quite a while.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

No... no i did not know that... thanks for the heads up. I love Sr.'s work, and have for quite some time, but I had absolutely no idea what he passed that long ago

Big respect and I always give credit when I make a Hartsfield inspired knife. I am a big fan!

Great to see you here and welcome to Bladeforums!

Good to see you here, Phill. It would be great if you'd post up what your doing and participate on BF. I'd suggest a Knifemaker Membership and link/post away.

Phill jr, I've been a way a while and I just now seen your post. I still have the large collection and I went by your shop a couple times but must have missed you. Maybe we can make an appointment?

I'll send you a PM as well

Thanks!

Albert
