When I was growning up my brother and I had to be home before dark. Typically that met around dinner time but as the days grew longer we got to go out after dinner but had to be darn sure to have our butts home before the sun went down. Being on the West Coast, that meant on June 21st we usually got to stay out and play until around 9pm or so. And that's what started out my fondness for June 21st the Summer Solstice. Over the years it has taken on more meaning and has become a very special day for me.:D

I hope everyone enjoys the longest day of the year....Get Out and Play with your Busses!

Nice story--thanks, and Happy Solstice!

Good stuff Solstice!

This is my mom and brother's birthday so it was always festive around our house growing up.

this is a special and sad day for me to.when i was in my late 20's early 30's my 2 brothers and i would go backpacking in the high sierras here in california.we would go for 5-7days and always would try to do it around the summer solstice[weather and snow pack permitting].awesome times!!my oldest brother past away 2 years ago and my brother closest in age has a heart condition.so if i go again it will be with my son,hes 13 now:D anyway enjoy the time you have and enjoy this day!!!

I, too remember growing up in SoCal and staying out late on this particular day! :D

Joyful Solstice to all!

On the East Coast the day I like best is the one where we set the clocks back an hour, 1 more hour of sleep,(yeah), :)

BTW Happy Solstice.
