...is Busse's Maroon Micarta!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm not really a fan of regular maroon colored things, but this canvas Micarta of Jerry's really looks great when it's dyed that deep burgundy ...

not that Burgundy :p...

this burgundy: deep, rich, and dark :)...

The canvas on my BURP is quite dense and finely woven, it almost approaches linen to my eye...

On my V8 it doesn't look quite as dense as the BURP, but it's still OUTSTANDING!!!

Black G10 can really class up a blade IMHO.

It's kinda like a black tuxedo for the INFI.

And I think that's why I'm such a fan of the maroon Mike...it has most of the qualities I love of black g10 with out the few drawbacks of price and added heft.

The maroon Micarta also keeps better, sharper definition of Busse's CNC'd handle patterns than the other flavors of Canvas Mike it seems to me!!!

Add to that the grippiness, comfort, and light weight of the Micarta itself and you have the main reasons why each of my new orders will have AT LEAST one maroon Mike selection!!!

Thanks Jerry for this fine handle material!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm really liking the look on my FMV8 as well. It's very consistent which is nice for a change. This just gives a nice even handle material that's also subtle with the Maroon. I find most times it looks blackish. Then the light hits it and you can see its not black.

I haven't yet got an example of Maroon micarta, I am waiting for that comp Forsaken Gemini with Maroon quite eagerly after seeing it on other blades. It looks just killer on that dagger, no pun intended lol.

The maroon canvas IS pretty sweet. I dyed the leather for my sheath with a mix of red and black dyes, yielding a nice sheath that closely matches the FMV8.

Yes, I 100% agree with you. As O2WP2 has gone on, it has become my “go to” handle material for orders.

I usually like the look of red and black G10, but feel of micarta. So, yes maroon canvas, is becoming a favorite of mine.

Black canvas has always been my go-to handle material but I'm not in love with the newer black canvas. I just don't know which is my favorite anymore.

Private Klinkhammer lets see that Sheath. Pics or it didn't happen, remember?

Clampdaddy you might want to try Mineral Oil on the newer Black Canvas. A friend does this to his to bring out the black. Just make sure to wipe off any visible residue. It tends to really bring out the black on some of the very lighter Black Canvas as of late.

I know it’s not really an option, but my favorite handle material from this round of O2WP2 is the Snow Hole Linen Micarta. Hell, it’s my favorite handle material that I’ve had on any blade.

Of the options that are currently available, Maroon and Green Canvas are at a close tie for second. I don’t actually have either, but judging from all the pics I’ve seen, those two look outstanding.

I have had some varying degrees of maroon - seems like they are dialing in on the deeper dye.

My best example is my UGLE, not as dark, although beautiful.

I also like the variety in the other blades I have, from kind of purple grape to kind of a "grey/blackwash" maroon...just because it harkens back to the "black and tan" micarta days when you could get a vast array of "black" and "tan" I like that kind of quirkiness factor....the new scales seem to be coming a lot more consistent as I have bought tans and greens in the new colors and they are all pretty darn consistent. I think the machining pattern vs the grain has something to do with the outward appearance as well. I am pretty sure if hand shaped, they would all be fairly consistent. Or could just be the dye process that seeps into every fiber...

They all look great to me! I love micarta!

I'm diggin that CNC'd texture on those PR's also...reminds me of the contour lines on a topo map...good stuff!

Best looking handle in ages... I asked if I could pay extra and have that put on my hog badger but nooo :(

Res-C and we NEED to make mudders part of the current offerings!

also the War dog and regulator handles....

I always liked the dark green hue that the black canvas had. The new stuff doesn't seem to be as dense and there seems to be more of the lighter colored fibers than the dark ones.

I first admired Busses for their no-nonsense functionality. When I started collecting, black canvas micarta was the only handle slab offering.
I still remember the first desert tans and the mania to own them.
I still like it, and the only Busses I own without black canvas micarta are ones I bought when black canvas was not an option.
