My favorite hatchet

I just wanted to show this little beauty off. It's a Plumb Boy Scouts hatchet. I found the head in a tool drawer of a workbench that I inherited. It's light enough to carry in a pack on shorter hikes and such.

Those little national pattern hatchets are nice. I enjoy using mine.
 
These were quality tools made from the late 1940s to the early 1970s and the poll may have been factory hardened. Try running a file over the top. If it bites really easy the poll is soft, if it skates you've got a tool that doubles as a hammer.
 
I like my national pattern plumb alot! , much better than my norlund voyager.
