This is a TOPS Fast axe. It is so handy and light, one-piece 1095 steel, 3/16 thick, over 17" overall. It has a super sheath with a clip and fits into the hollow of your hip. You don't even know it's there. It doesn't have much impact. In a way, it's more of a knife than a hatchet, but it's SO light and handy. It would be plenty to trim branches for a fire and it's a pretty scary weapon. They make a short version that's achieving cult status, but I like the length of the original.

I've wrapped mine with neon-green cord all the way from tip to head. I've taken it all over Southern Montana and several times into Yellowstone.

PS

My second favorite is a CS Trail Hawk. It's way more of a club, but it's heavier (I wear mine stuck through my belt on the side, blade facing backward). I feel like the Trail Hawk might be better at driving off animals because of its impact, but I usually have a gun for that.

I have a couple CS hawks.
Norse, Rifleman, Spike hawk, and even a Poll Axe.

If you want to talk about a club, the Rilfeman hawk is a beast to lug around! But it chops and throws and hits with real oomph.

The spike hawk is just nasty too, with the longer handle!
