Several months ago, I bought a guy's collection of Victorinox here on BF. Sixty-six total Vickies in various sizes (models), but all very nice and all at 95% or better condition...many brand new in original packaging.
One hour from now, I am mailing out 41 of the "smaller" Vickies ...to a fellow in Elizabethtown, KY. He's married now, but former AirBorne (101st @ Ft. Campbell) and still active with these guys.
He contacted a supply officer friend, who is about to be re-deployed with three Airborne units to the Sandbox. The officer will let me know how the troops liked them at the end of their tour...one year or so.
It seems like a very honest deal; my contact is solid...and I'm happy.
Forty will be distributed to the troops on the line; one "larger" Victorinox to my former Airborne member and contact. Thanks to this contact, I'm feeling really happy about this. All of the remaining folders will go to friends and relatives. They are amazing little buggers. I've never owned a Victorinox before, and probably will keep one for myself.
The one multi-bladed Explorer model (16 functions) is going to the son of a lady bank-clerk friend of our family, whose son has been in the Army for five yrs, has one previous deployment in the "Stan," and is being re-deployed there this weekend. I'm taking the knife to her today. She will mail it to her son, once he gets over there.
I really love doing this stuff. Just wanted to share, and spread the joy!
