Headed out today with two things planned to do, one was to make some berry tea and the other was to make Dave Canterbury's Promontory Peg Baited Deadfall with String Trigger trap.
First job was to pick some berries~

This guy seemed more interested in the berry bush leaves~

Came across lots of Heal-all, I wasn't feeling ill but figured I'd throw some in my tea just in case !

All ready to go~

With my tea on the go I could now turn my attention to the trap~

I used natural cordage and recessed the bait trigger to accept it, Dave Canterbury didn't do this but hey there are no hard and fast rules with this stuff !

Secure the other end of your cordage to another piece of wood that acts as a back stop for your deadfall weight~

Set it up and ya good to go, I should have placed my peg closer to the front but it still worked anyway....the bait would be placed on the cordage, this could be berries or frogs etc depending on what your wanting to catch~

This trap took me maybe 5 minutes to make, set up and then film....try doing that with a figure 4 trap.......and it's so easy to do !!!!!
With my trap tested and my tea drank I headed back off with the girls~

Came across a Tiger Lily, the corms from these make good eating...taste a little like wild rice~

Might as well throw one more knife pic in eh, I polished my M6 up a little more ~

When I got home I realised that the same trigger system could be used to catch birds. I used Floss as cordage, you would just need to thread raisins or even a worm on the cord~
