Well it finally made it and it's everything it's advertised to be. What a sweet knife! Since I didn't make the cut for the Box Combo Set I guess I'll have to obtain them individually, although I still hold out hope a set will cross my path.

Very nice Michael…congratulations on a great knife!!

I really like the looks of those. The old straight back 110's are my favorite…nice and sleek looking!!

I like what they did with the sheath too.

I'm supposed to have mine this weekend, so I'll just enjoy the ones that everyone else has until then. :)

Super nice, after I saw your pics I almost went and bought one. I mustard up the energy to hold off for now.
Congrats...

Thanks Mark, I really was disappointed I didn't get dibs on the Combo Set, I thought for sure I had put my order in early enough. I wonder of other possible avenues to obtain it. But this is really a sweet knife. If the others are as nice as these they will be well worth it.

I almost forgot to mention that it's the Lochsa I'm really looking forward to.

I thought I had my order in soon enough for the boxed set also. I placed it on December 7th and just found out a couple weeks ago I didn't make the cut.

OMG, oh my goodness!

Looks rich and wonderful like a gold bar in your hand. Real wealth. It looks masterfully made as if your fevered dream was hammered out into the real world somehow. Excellent folder. Thank you kindly for the photos.

yowser my federal came in the mail yesterday!
one sweet knife and like others
I really like the straight backs!!!
my very first buck was a straight back ...
sure wish they would let this stand as a production item
would be nice to use one again ...

For a first impression I pulled out my 1st Version Variation 1 and made a quick comparison with the 110 Federal, no measurements, just an eyeball test. Overall I think Buck did an excellent job of recreating the 1st Version. With the knives closed you have to look closely to see differences. Whit the knives open, it's obvious that the blade of the Federal is beefed up some, and that is a good thing. For the Federal, the arc of the clip isn't as long or exaggerated as in the original and that gives greater strength to the tip. The handle is almost identical, maybe a 1/32" thicker (side to side), and towards the front maybe 1/16" deeper (top to bottom). In a blindfold test I think it would be hard to tell which knife you were holding.
The only quibble I have was mentioned by Larry Oden. It would have been nice to have the small nail nick instead of the heavier machined nick, and I agree with 110Dave that it would be great to have something like this become a production knife.
