& everyone else who got winter storm hammered.

I hope everyone is well and hasn't been too challenged by our recent snowfall. I've got some pics of that I should be attaching to this thread(probably tomorrow).

Anyone been out since it all fell? I was today, and I've got pics, but will post them tomorrow. The hike was a bit challenging, knee high snow is hell to move through. Thought I was doing great on the fitness front, that is, until my hamstrings started screaming at me, lol. I'll be back on here in the morning to get those pics uploaded and attached here.

Only been out to shovel and go to the shop. Looking forward to the pics!

We took the dog for a walk last night but that was about as close to a hike as I've come. Sounds like you got quite the workout though Zenful!

I took a short hike to my favorite fire spot on Wednesday. I used one of your awesome firestarters too. :)

Tuesday night, the view from the front door of my work. Winds must've been in excess of 50mph, poor Ole glory!

Couldn't get the camera to focus properly outside after my couple hundred yard walk through 3 & 4 ft drifts to the hotel that my company set me up in that night. My thanks to them. There was no driving anywhere! I was laughing, my face/beard/eyebrows were all covered in ice! It was like an arctic expedition getting there.

The next morning from the 6th floor of the hotel a few hundred yards from work.

So, after all was said and done, my car needed to be unburied. Can you see it? The mirrors give its location away, LOL!

Hi Zen -

Yea - we got hit pretty bad downstate as well.

I have a 4 or 5 foot drift in the back yard.

The best part is that the next morning (yesterday) it was 11 below zero actual temp when I left the house.

It warmed up to -6 this morning.

There is a drift in the field behind my house that may be over 7 feet; I'll gear up and head out to see just how deep it is tomorrow, and have my wife take pictures from the back yard.

It's fun, but I am glad it happens rarely.

best regards -

I was graciously given Thursday off from my boss for being there all day Wednesday running the show. So, I decided to go out & see how things had shaped up. I figured I'd make a trip out to the hut that LMT66 & I had worked on putting together out in an undisclosed FP area.

Here's the view from around my neighborhood.

A dang lotta snow! This pull off area was around 2 1/1 - 3ft deep! Luckily I found another spot nearby that was clear.

Looks like some rabbit tracks through the snow.

Ok, it looks like someone was out here before me. But, what's weird, the tracks are directly in line with one another, sunk deep, but there's around 4-5ft of space between each footfall. That's one heckuva stride!

Looks like a deer made a path through in the forefront. I can see the hut back there, pretty well hidden too!

The big tracks I found led me to be a little cautious as I approached. As well as hearing from LMT66 that he had found a beercan & a torn business card out in/around the hut the last time he was out there.

Things look pretty undisturbed.

After a real hasty & improper beginning to firestarting, I broke out one of the lil tinders I'd made up (the ones that all the JK Gathering attendees received). That tinder, the help of the awesome Phoenix John made & a bit more patience on my part & I started a small fire.

Beautiful in the firelight. ;)

I sat for only a short time as the sun was going down quite quickly & I didn't want to get nabbed by the FP police. After extinguishing the fire, packing up & bundling back up, I made my way back out towards my vehicle. And let me tell you, it ain't no joke walking through that much snow! I had to stop a few times on the way out, surprised me, because I've been doing real good workouts lately. My legs were trashed when I finally got out of there. And today, oohhhhhh do I feel it in my core BIG time! It was a great little adventure nonetheless.

Good stuff there Zenful! Looks like you guys did a great job on your shelter. There were some pretty strong winds blowing that snow around.

Great pictures Zen. Our hut withstood the snow & winds. I was tired just looking at your photo's!
