Here is a smaller sized Bowie I have been working on for the last couple of weeks as time permitted. I was looking to do something a little different but without straying too far from my "norm". I call it Moon Light. The filework goes all the way around the handle. Let me know whatcha think of it :)

Nice job.
Very geometric. You have it looking good. It seems like you would have to be very carefull to get it right. Unforgiving if I were to get off line.
What can you tell me about that. Any tips that make it easy to do it well.

Bill,

Very nice work.

that is a great looking knife. that filework looks very tedius to do. how did you darken the blade? i like dark blades for woking knives. :D is thru hardened and tempered or edge quenched?

Thanks for the kind words guys :) This one has a black teflon coating on the blade and screws. Contrasts nicely with the white micarta slabs. The blade itself is 5160 with a hard edge/soft back. I don't have a digi cam and the scanner doesn't really do it justice when I size the pics to fit here. Your right Terry on the filework being tedious. It pretty much tripled the time it would have taken to do a similar knife. It was definitly worth the trouble though :D Now I need to figure out sheathing. I haven't done leather in years but I just can't kydex this guy.

Bill that rocks, I like the overall package, very nicely done. Coffin handle really sets it off too. And like all the rest, I like that filework, nice pattern. It does take a while but seems to be worth the effort every time.

So the way you did this was assembled with screws, shaped the handle to the knife, took it apart to have the metal coated and screwed it all back together?

Simple and clean!.

That file work is awsome! I love the contrast between the white mycarta and the black blade, and the proportions are right on too. Looks like it'd fit the hand and ballence well too

That's the coolest filework I've ever seen. Congratulations, I know that was very difficult.

Great job.
