My final Collaboration Knife

I have been fortunate enough to work on collaborations with great knifemakers like Lake, Osborne, and Bennica.
Some time ago I decided that I had too much of my own work to complete that time taken for collaborations were impractical. This particular knife was given to me by Charlie in return for some work I did for him. I have worked away at it for several years. I know that it certainly is not everyones cup of tea, but here it is, finally complete.

Sorry for the poor photo. When and if it gets sold, I will have it shot by Coop.

The Loerchner stamp is all over that one, Wolfe!

'final' sounds pretty final!
I prefer Loerchner-only knives personally:)

No apologies needed on THAT photo. Well ahead of the 'knifemaker/photographer' curve.

Distinctly both styles in this. And they marry well...

...And divorce is a time-honored tradition. :)

I love it all, but after a little thought about it, I guess I'd have to agree. It's still "simply" beautiful, but a folder constructed with Wolfe-only lines is probably preferable to my mind's eye than one where the knife itself doesn't shout Wolfe, though the embellishment absolutely does. Love that carving!

Yes, extremely nice Wolfgang.
You have done some outstanding collaborations, including the 2010 CKCA Cancer Research Benefit knife.

Thank you for the kind comments. I personally like the knife because of the clean lines Charlie created. But I also recognize that everyone has a different perception of what is appealing. And that is a very good thing, it is what makes this craft so extremely diverse.

For me, it's a just a matter of degree - what is MORE appealing - a collaboration or a total "Wolfe" creation. I happen to love Bennica knives. I've owned several of his integral fixed blades, most recently one of his interframe subhilts, last year. Almost all of the folders I've seen from Bennica have interframe inlays. So this one would have been the perfect canvas for you. I think your work on this one, as STeven says, has your stamp all over it! Gorgeous.

Best,

Bob

I did not know how to say it myself. I didn't want it to sound like I did not like the work of the other maker. :o Bob summed up what I was thinking. Thanks.
Minus the owning knives thing of course. All my available funds still have to go towards this darn knifemaking bug I caught a while back. :(
