This is the last Knatchet I will be making, and I think it`s only fitting that it`s being completed at Halloween time. It features a forged finish, hollow pins, and orange G10 handles. What could be more Halloween than that?

I`m going to try for a better pic tomorrow, or whenever it`s not so gloomy. The orange needs to be seen to be believed!

That looks great and it is rather "halloweeny". I've never had a knife with a forged finish or one with orange handles like I've wanted for a while so I got both at the same time and couldn't be happier.

Hi guys -

I have had my Knatchet for a couple of days now - I have cut some cardboard with it, but no chopping yet. I will do some this weekend for sure.

I really like the design - I think it would work good for chopping, and very good for a camp knife for preparing food. The balance point is right where you can hold it at the crook where the handle curves into the blade and use it for chopping foods etc.

Then, you can hold it way down on the handle and get a great chopping motion with it, and holding it there, it feels "blade heavy" and hatchet-like.

pitdog knew what he was doing when he designed this baby.

Congrats to you, ManOfMisery, for the orange G10 Knatchet with the forged finish - a classy way to end the run of JK Knatchets.

best regards

Grate looking knife as always john, I think that's my favorite knatchet so far. Their is something about the forged finish and orange g10. I really wish I could have gotten in on these. Your a lucky man, manofmisery.

Here it is, in all it`s orange glory! The little knife shown with it is one I call Sparkler. It`s a little PSK style knife that`s 6 1/4" long, with a 2 5/8" blade. I`m one of those that like to put my thumb on the spine of the blade, and don`t like to feel the sharp edge needed to throw sparks with a firesteel. So I decided to put a half circle cutout on the protruding tang to use as a firesteel striker. Let me say that this really throws some sparks! I used two hollow pins in case of a need to lash the knife to a pole, along with two smaller pins in the handle.

That Sparkler looks pretty cool John. The protruding tang looks like a good top popper too. :D

Looks nice. You have really gotten good with the shape. Too bad this is the last REAL knatchet. :grumpy:

At least I have mine. ;) Thanks

That's how I feel but I'm just glad I got my order in just in time. It seems to a versatile blade shape but I guess I'll have to see once I can bring myself to cut anything with it.

Very sorry that I missed the bandwagon on these wonderful wilderness tools.

Whats the next best thing that I can find on the market these days? Unless someone wants to part ways with their knatchet that is....... ;)

How about a shorter bladed Chopmuk?

I can't see myself parting for my Knatchet for anything but a Chopmuk would be one heck of a woods blade as well.

Hi Stomper -

Will you bring the sparkler to the SG? I just would like to see how the half-moon cutout does on a fire steel.

As always - very nice work on the knives! I did think that outdoorsfan's orange g10 keppie was a real looker.

best regards -

I`ll be bringing the Sparkler, it`s the prize in the fire starting contest! :D

AHA! Very nice prize!

Ok - back out in the yard to start fires! ( I took today off of work to relax a little - took the wife up to the bears game yesterday....)

Wow! What a great prize! I am tempted to sneak over there and hide some "natural tinder" like a can of gas and some road flares but I think you guys would bust me on that one!
