Thanks to my friend Chuck289 for my first Buck 110. It's alot bigger than I thought, and really sharp too. We'll see how it works but I have a feeling I will enjoy this knife. It's my new EDC after I broke my Buck Sirius  Note to self: never disassemble an a/o knife, especially one as complicated Bucks ASAP designs...

Be careful with it. After I got mine, I hardly ever carried other folders. My trusty Opinels, high-tech Spydercos and various SAKs hardly see any pocket-time now.

Welcome to bladeforums pvt.Orcut and welcome to the Buck 110, a knife everybody should own and everybody almost does....vg knife for the money

I was admiring my 110 the other night , they are simplistic yet beautiful pieces of Americana.
My simple 110 story.
I have had mine since I traded it from my cousin when I was in my early teens , and even then he only traded it because the tip was broke , but I still finally had a genuine Buck :D
I used it off and on until finally last year I sent it in with a note and Buck fixed it absolutly free ! Brand new , razor sharp blade and a nice polish.
How's that for a knife company servicing a knife that is 20 odd years old ?

Buck is an awesome company.

Congrats on getting your first Buck 110!
The Buck 110 is one of the best cutting knives I have ever used.

Welcome to the forums and good luck with your career in the Army. I see that you ship out to Basic in a week. You may want to check and see if you are allowed to bring any knives with you.

36 years ago, when I left for Basic at Fort Jackson, anything that you brought with you got shipped back. The Army supplied everything that they wanted you to have and you were allowed nothing else. Times may have changed though.

Congrats on the 110. I bought mine around 1977 and it was my first quality folder. I still have it to this day and it serves me well. I really never needed to buy another knife but you know how that goes. Good luck in your travels and thank you for your military service.

My Buck 110 is in Iraq. I hope it's helping one of the good guys stay alive or maybe be a little more comfortable.

they've changed a little; instead of shipping stuff back, the drill sergeants end up with a grab bag.

and definitely no knives at all at basic

Well, all I can do is relate to my own personal experience...

Back in 1986, at Ft. Sill Oklahoma, all of our "civilian gear" was locked up until we graduated from Basic.
And I can honestly say that the Drill Sgt's did not take anything at all.

Yeah, personal bags get locked up, but first you dump your gear so they can check for weapons, medications, and the like. You're supposed to drop that stuff in an amnesty box at reception. Never see it again.

allenC - what kind of grapes are those? (sorry for off topic, but everytime I see them I wonder).

Oh, Buck 110.

Had one back in High School and a bit after. Lost it somewhere (been years).

Good basic design, a classic.

Lets not forget little brother the 112. Bought this knife in 1992 when I was 12. saved up my money forever to buy it.

This thread made me drag out my knives, I haven't used my 110 in years.
It still looked great and felt great with that solid heaftiness it has.
I had all but forgotten that I also own the 112, a K-Bar 110 knock-off and a 112 knock off by Wenoka(Japanese).....I found that one years ago when I was Steelhead fishing....put up a found sign at the local tackle shop...never heard a thing so I still have it.......can't sharpen it though LOL
I also have and still use on occasion Scharde's version the LB-7, I have a mint one and a beater the wife and I use around the yard.
So many companies copied the 110 that most folks call any wood handled locking knife a "BUCKKNIFE".
This post has me now looking at some of the cool custom versions one can order now.......

orthogonal1,
Those are muscadines, grown right here in North Carolina.:)

Psycho78,
Nice picture of that 112!

Pvt. Orcutt--thanks for your service. If Uncle Sugar takes your 110 away, I'll send you one of mine wherever you're deployed. Good luck.
