I remember drooling all over the pics in SOF years ago when CR first made it onto the world scene with the Jereboam.

I never could afford one of those South African Jereboams, but my needs have changed since then anyway so I would not have been happy with it from a type stand point only.

Now that I know more about what I use on a regular basis I was able to find this Moutaineer II.

I have heard legendary stories about the A2 steel, and proved one of those after touching the edge up on this bad boy with just a few strokes. Can you say "hair popping?"

I also love the single gaurd on a utility/camp style knife. Seriously glad I held out for that.

While I like the leather, it is far better quality than many others on the market, I want something that rides higher and tighter. I will be searching.

I hope this one works out well for me. I really do like his work.

Thanks for a great job, Mr. Reeve.

Terry,

Congrats on getting the Mountaineer II. My first ever CRK purchase was a Mountaineer II, serial #52, back in 1990. Having paid at most $80 for a knife back then, I remember wondering if buying that particular CRK knife was a mistake . . . 16 years and hundreds of knife purchases later, The MII remains one of my favorites.

I've recently grown quite fond of the Sable IV, for all the reasons that I like the Mountaineer II . . .

Good choice on the CRK fixed blade. I settled on a Shadow III which is 4 inch blade compared to your 5.5 inch blade. I just wanted something that was a bit more compact and the pancake sheath makes indescrete EDC a breeze. Enjoy.

Congratulations on your choice. I have a Mountaineer II, and it's a great knife.

Congrats on the CRK fixed blade!! Good for you!! That is a great looking knife.

I just wanted to give everyone an update on the MII I traded for a short time ago.

I found that it fit a short Spec Ops cordura sheath that I already had, so it began going everywhere I went strapped to the out or inside of my Blackhawk pack.

After use I would touch it up with a crock stick or Hard AR stone, and that thing would be hair popping! No hard use, just EDC stuff that I had a need for. The finish wasn't even scuffed. That is really how little I had used it.

And then........the sad day came..................

I showed it to my father.

At least I was able to get out with the Spec Ops sheath. He liked the leather better.

I guess this just gives me an excuse to get another some day. :D

Then we'll have two in the family.

Perhaps a Sable IV, Skinner, or Scout.(Please, Please.)

I reckon it could not have gone to a better man.

That's a borderline tear-jerker, Terry:(. As much as I love my dad I don't think he'll be getting my Sable IV anytime soon. That said if he really wanted one I might have to place an order. You should definitely get yourself another blade. After this generous move, you deserve it. Good luck with your search.
