These were the first Spydercos I purchased, very soon after they became available here.

Being older it's of course natural they've seen much use, but both continue to see a lot of use, as they're simply too good to need replacing. The Executive is one of the few ones where I use the clip to carry it in a trouser side pocket.

I put the small serrations on them almost as soon as I had gotten them, as that was what I had done to other knives before that with good effect.

Are the tips missing? Was that intentional, or just a similar accident with both? I'm assuming intentional... for what purpose, if you don't mind me asking? Admittedly, it makes them handier screwdrivers, and I assume better pryers. But, anyway, just curious.

The tips aren't missing, I just don't need them, so I took them away, and the resulting surface is too wide and flat to be used as a screwdriver or prybar.
Or rather: I want the tips to be where they are now. Consider the angle you have to hold a knife if you for example want to open a box with the tip. With a low tip you get a smaller angle between the knife and the surface. (And there is of course also the safety aspect, like with the Mariner/Rescue.)

I put in the serrations with a couple of ordinary files. That's perhaps the thing I'd do differently today, as a longer piece of straight edge between the serrations and handle for some kinds of cutting could come in handy. (Some of my first trials had the serrations closer yet to the handle, and that wasn't good.)

Trying another placement and pattern of serrations is in fact the only reason I can come up with today to purchase another Delica...
