Here are my first two attempts at knifemaking. The first was a very difficult project, Ebony hardwood scales, brass pins, on a small AKC Leveretto. A giant learning process.
#2 Went much smoother. Rosewood Scales, 440 Blade, Brass guard, pins, and a inlayed nickle silver shield. Don't hold back, I only want to improve.
ebony finally sanded and shaped, down to 2000 grit for a smooth glossy finish!
assembly was a b!+{h, soldered the pivot pin in and buffed it out so that it blened as much as possible.
but it works! and i put a 15 degree profile on it with my lansky, mirror finish. cuts like the dickens
#2 Rosewood on 440 bowie. 6" blade, full tang.
I used 1/8" jewelery nickle silver sheets to make the inlayed sheild. I made it a little more detailed than my smallest router bit could do.. but I'm ok with the results.
Next projects are a Damascus dagger, and 440 bolo shaped bowie. Working with Ebony again, and buffalo horn. Any tips on working with horn or bone would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Steveybee
