I just couldnt stand it any longer. I had to order a vietnam tac grade hawk. I wanted a hawk for a broad range of uses,to include but not be limited to camping hunting, throwing, and of course close quarters battle training. I felt the spiked head would really make this a pseudo fighter. I wonder now though, did i make the right choice? Will the tac grade be a versatile camp tool as well? Any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I have a Vietnam Tac. I think you made the PERFECT choice. This hawk chops like a chainsaw :D Any Vietnam or Ranger hawk are perfect for the uses you stated. They're perfect for any hawk chore! Even used my Vietnam Tac as a climbing aid. I also have a RR Spike and have used and soon to recieve an NG Ranger. I don't know if I would TRAIN with a real hawk... could hurt yourself or somebody else. Who's instructing you?

You made an excellent choice!!! The Vietnam Tac does anything and everything and looks beautiful doing it! If you have any further questions... just ask :)

Swede,

Being biased, I think you made an excellent choice. The hawk will do anything you need a camp axe to do and then some.

As for CQB training...... The hawks are tactically sharpened which means that there are 5 cutting edges. The front of the blade, the under-curve of the blade and 3 edges on the spike. You don't want to train with this - it's VERY sharp. If you really want to traing in hand-to-hand CQB then I also recommend you buy a trainer hawk.

These are made from hand-laid fiberglass and are shaped just like the Vietnam Field Grade. They're even painted to look just like it but if you want to repaint it to look like your tactical go right ahead. They're made so that you can work with them and you won't get hurt. If you beat it up too bad you can repaint it and it'll look as good as new.

Give me a call if you'd like to add one to your order. They're $65.00

Man im glad to hear i did good. Thanks for the comments. I think though there may be some confusion as to my training regiment. I have been using the japanese kama for quite some time and am curious as to how the hawks heavier head and increased durability will add to the very same techniques and variations. If in fact i find someone to train with as in a person then i would definitely order a trainer hawk, but for now its just littleold me and a tree or two.

Okay Northstar, you talked me into it. Ill take the trainer, because you never know . Thanks again..

Congratulations! Swede2207 You have just purchased one of the best tomahawks made period. The thing will be very hard to put down. I have a injured elbow and wrist right know and my wife took my hawk and I can't find it. Even with all the pain I want to play with my hawk. My condition has nothing to do with my hawk. I'm a carpenter and my arms don't get much of a rest. Just wanted to clear that up. You will be very happy with your hawk.

My training hawk should be here any day now. If my wife doesn't hide it from me I'll let you know how it feels compared to the real hawks.
