My first attempt at bolstering

We all love the 6, how ever it’s beyond the reach of most of us, so I set out to turn my 7-b into a 6’ish looking knife with a bolster job.

Since it was my first I decided on aluminum bolsters, I know some might skoff at aluminum bolsters but titanium is 38 dollars a foot and aluminum is 9 dollars for 36” so I wanted to practice on the aluminum.

With all that being said aluminum was vary hard to work with, as a matter of fact the whole project was quite hard and I have much more respect for the work that goes into bolster jobs.

Below are some pix but I’ll have a video up tomorrow night, this did not come out perfect at all but it’s good enough until I can try again

Edit: now with YouTube link

Give yourself more credit. I know I said I'm not into bolsters or pimping Emersons, but you did a really good job.

I work with aluminum making motorbike parts (as a hobby) so as a soft metal it can be tricky, and easy to go too far when removing material.

Nice job!

I will try aluminum and possibly gray g10, I’d like to try Damascus, or a heat treated (for the look) tool steel and carbon fiber next.... bolstering (once your liners are drilled and tapped) is fun

Do you just screw the bolsters on with screws coming from the inside of the liners?

It looks good! If you ever feel lke practicing some ti bolsters be sure to post it!

I am as we speak uploading a “how to assemble” vid to YouTube and will link it in my first post so keep checking back
