Nah, I ground 'er down. Posted a thread about it last week. But what happened to the tip of the 14? It broke off?
That is a really nice brown. Good job!! You say "green" RIT is how you got the brown color?
I might try this. But I'm going to get another 14 and a 24, both with the extra scales, before I do. I'd like to experiment with other colors.
I'm really diggin' that spatu-cal (spatula/tactical, LOL) front end on that 14. But, I'll be honest, I don't have the nuts to do such a thing to my precious 14.![]()
Yea, the color is "dark green." It was $2.25 for a small box, and a little goes a long way. I think I mixed it a bit too dark, tbh. The bright green ZK scales just got darker, but the orange went brown on me. Maybe if I left them in longer they'd turn more green? Saw a thread a while back of a guy dyeing his brown/tan tweener scales the same dark green color and they turned out almost the exact green of the box. Need to get some more scales to mess with, or maybe just try micarta. As for the tip of the 14...it's my favorite knife I have now. Just have to get these sheaths made (making two diff styles). After that, I'll be getting more beckers to mod!
BK14 mod thread...http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1047969-My-bk14-looks-strange
Glad that you saw this thread, and thanks for posting your pic! I used the powder and mixed about tablespoon into a soup cans worth of water. Didn't add salt or anything like that as some directions suggest. The orange is quite bright and the peanut butter tweener scales are lighter and take the color a little better. Plus orange and green should make a brownish color when combined and its hard to straight change a color starting from such a point as that orange. but i really like that brown.
Also did you use the powder or liquid dye? i used liquid dark green rit, just curious.
