So a couple of months ago I saw on you tube a video of a guy making a knife out of a old blade. he made the handle, and sheath. I said to myself.....well that does not seems too hard so as a personal proyect ( since I have not ever taking any wood working classes, or been a avid wood worker, I am more of a suit and tie kind of person); this was really the first step in what now is my hobby.

so here is my first finished home made fast sweedish knife ( I say finished however I have done and re done things about it, so maybe in a month it will be different)

the sheath was made by carving it with a chisel while split in half and then epoxy it together. after some sanding it came out pretty good

the blade is 3 inches long. I think the handle came out a little long however for dressing it is very confortable

the long and stiff leather makes a great belt loop

comments and recommendations appreciated since this is my first job recommendations or improovements are appreciated

Well, that's quite nice, especially for a first attempt!!

When you said "old blade", is this one you found and stripped off the old handle?

Your design and materials make for a very user-friendly and comfortable looking tool.

You should be proud of this knife and just keep on going. There's a lot to learn on the pages of this forum. Do some reading and ask the questions as they arise.

Congrats!!

well in my case since I did not have a easily available old blade, I had to purchase a blank over the internet...however all the rest was made from a teak wook piece I had lying around.

the leather was from a old chair that broke so I made good use of it

thanks
