Well I'd like to start of saying the only tools I had at home to make these were a needle for lether and a small drill bit that I used to make the holes for the stitching I didn't have anything to measure I did it all free hand and just eyeball ed it . Just got a wild hair one day and this was the out come Just thought I'd show you guys comments are welcome good or bad thanks for looking

Not bad bud. :) All that stitch work can only help you in the future. I like the edging on the dog collar. Only thing that sticks out to me is the square cut belt loop. I try to round or nip off the corners on square strap ends, it just looks a little more refined to me, but that's just a preference.

What kind of leather is that? Did you dye it, or was it pre-dyed?

Good job!

Great first efforts.
Since your limited by tools, why not develope your lacing skills?
Here's a you tube video that might help you fancy up your edge lacing.

I'm not sure where Kelso is, but if it's near Shoreline, Spokane, or Tacoma that's where the Tandy stores are. Most of us (as far as I know) buy leather online, or from a vendor that we don't visit in person. The problem is that you can't select the hide yourself. Fortunately most sheaths and small projects can be made using hides that have small blemishes. Working with a known vendor can help in this regard as well. I have had my best experiences with Hide House and SLC. I trust HH to send me a quality piece quickly and at a great price. Talk with whoever you choose and ask them to meet your specific needs. SLC has a rep for making good (great actually) if, by chance, you get something that doesn't meet your needs. Going with established tannery leather (Hermann Oak and Wicket & Craig in particular) will generally offer excellent leather depending on the quality you choose and pay for. These are just my opinions on buying leather. Certainly there are more experienced buyers here than me.

Choose vegetable tanned leather. You can do great things with it that you cannot with others (stamping and forming for example) and it plays well with steel where others may not depending on what you buy.

There are areas that you can improve on, but that's the case with all of us. Trying to improve with each piece is the best way that I know to get even better. Going slowly and thoughtfully has never hurt me either. Keep going and you won't likely be able to stop. You've been warned. ;)

It about 40 minutes up state from Vancouver and yes there is lot for me to improve on and will make a note on the vegetable tanned leather. I will keep your warning warn in mind but chance are it Will go out the window once I find my place to purchase leather

Well if you're ever in Mt Vernon and you like black licorice stop at the Chuck Wagon and try their licorice ice cream, it's amazing. :) My wife grew up in WA. When we went back to visit it was around 10pm when the sun went down. Wish it was like that here.

Yeah, I refuse to go in the winter. Too cold for my southern bones. Beautiful state. I've never seen fields of flowers like they have there.
Ya understand that summers can't get any better so much water and woods its just absolutely beautiful got to have those knives when stomping around the forest good sheaths too!

I hear that. Oregon ain't too shabby either in that regard. West Coast is the best coast for a reason. No disrespect to everyone else, of course, but it's hard to beat the Pacific, our topo and people. I had a guy in L.A. try to trade my watch for a sheet of acid once. Met some transvestites and hung out with some LBCrips. Weird night, but I like to diversify. :D That said, Texas is pretty awesome. Florida is cool (if flat), love me some Arizona desert and the North East is cool. The Atlantic is boring though. I thought I was at the lake in North Carolina, but it turns out I wasn't. Cool little chain of islands off the coast, but nothing at all like Hawaii. Louisiana is bananas. It was so hot there, I swear when it rained the water just came right back up again. Never seen anything like it and zero relief in the shade. Crazy.

Great country we live in for sure.

The humidity is crazy in certain places for sure. I cannot imagine living in one of those places without ac. Missouri was really odd. I had a mohawk last time I was there and the waitress at a little joint asked if I was on tour with a band. I just told her that everyone in California looks like this. She looked fairly convinced! Outside of that the cicadas kept me up at night. The locals in the small town I was in were really nice. I figured I'd get flak for looking the way I did but everyone just wanted to chat. My dad's drunk neighbors were a lot of fun. The poverty in that town was depressing but the people were great. The fly overs are filled with decent people in my experience. :)
