My first axe collar

When I ordered this Helko Werk axe, they were out of collars, so I made one. I saw some beautiful collars on YouTube, but for my first leather project I wanted to keep it simple. This is some very heavy leather and hard as hell, but I wanted something touch to prevent marring the handle. I was wondering: is it ok to leave the collar on when I soak the head in linseed oil?

Very nice!!!

I wouldn’t soak the head, once the oil dries it can cause the head to loosen.
You might try getting the leather wet and warm and re lace it nice and tight, after it dries it will retain the shape and shrink a bit further tightening the leather around the haft.
After its all dry, rub some neats foot oil, mink oil, sno seal, mineral oil, ect. into the leather.
