Here are a few pictures of my Bagwell stag- carbon that arrived on Friday. I have to thank JP in a big way for this to happen. Joe had mentioned that Bill would be at the Harrisburg Sport Show with a couple of knives to sell. At the time I was only interested in having having Bill sign my book, place an order for a Helles Belle and talk a little bit about black powder shooting. Well, after handling the knife I could not resist the temptation and had to have it. Naturally I didn't have the required amount of cash so I went home empty handed. I called Bill after the show was over and he agreed to hold the knife for a couple of weeks until I came up with the required cash. Thanks Bill, it is now mine and I love it! Yesterday with the nice day we had here, I decided to do a little woods bumming, looking for antler sheds and what not. This is my first photo session and I had to call Joe in the middle of it for help. The blade on this measures 10 1/4 inches from the front of the guard and the handle is about 6 inches from the back of the guard. Two things I have to add are the Winchester had only air in the chamber (safety first), and the girlfriend would only help with posting pictures if I mentioned that she hates my hat. Over all I had a fun afternoon and can't wait to do it again. Thanks for looking and all comments on my blade and photo's are welcome.

Beautiful classic style Bagwell. Working on one just about like that right now for one of my JS test knives. Also have to agree with your GF on the hat as well.

Gorgeous knife, congratulations!

Why is your post one big link? That makes it really hard to read.

That's a great knife and photos! I'm not so sure on the hat!:D

Deafsmithco I know how much you wanted this knife and I am really happy for you that it all came together. That was cool of Bill to do that for you. I handled this knife when Bill was in town and believe me if I did not have 2 very much like it would be mine:D.
Deafsmith is an avid hunter and outdoorsman and I hear his girlfriend can out fish me:grumpy:. He is big into traditional bowhunting so I know this knife will get some good use even trimming last minute shooting lanes in the fall. I am also sure when you cross the border into the Heathen Devil State of N.J. :Dwith it's restrictive gun carry laws it will be a comfort. Congrats on a great classic looking Bagwell..

I know at times guy's that I seem like a cheerleader for Bagwell knives and for this I apologize but I am a big fan and believer in the man and his steel. I just think that it is cool as hell that a bladesmith of his caliber and rich history is still literally pounding out fantastic performance steel that I believe is at it's best in a long interesting career. Plus he is getting it in guy's hands like Deafsmithco who is really going to put it to use.

P.S. If you like the hat wear it just stay in the woods HaHa.....

Congratulations on a very nice piece.

I talked to Bill the other day for the first time and was quite impressed.
He really puts a lot of thought into the design of his knives.

I can't say I'm a cheerleader for Mr. Bagwell because I don't own, haven't even handled any of his work. But I will say he's one of the people who really jump-started my interest back in the 80's with his columns in SOF. His book is well-worth reading. And it seems his knives are just getting better, if anything. I've read that he requests all kinds of info from his clients: shoe size, hand-tracing, height/weight etc, so he can properly design and balance their knife... that's just fascinating to me.

Thanks guys, It means a lot! The funny thing is the gf gave me the book about four years ago. I glanced through it and thought what in the world would I ever do with a Bowie? Well I read the book a couple months back and have become obsessed with the whole thing. It brought me here to the forum and meeting up with JP. That only made things worse. Bill wanted a lot of measurements for my order and told me this knife was to small for me. It feels great in my hand and I had to have it. Of course I really know little about knife balance and feel so I could be way of course with this.
Joe, your gonna have to show me the correct sharpening method. I don't want to hack the edge up on this one.
I guess the hat will live in the truck for now, it will be fine for early archery season.

That hat looks like one I've seen Tom Petty wear.

The knife is a classic design, and one that I have always really liked.

very nice bowie! i can't comment on your hat because the link is not working for me.

I know it sounds cliched around here but..........Awesome knife.
Congratulations, Patrick !
I wish it were mine.

Nice lil Bowie there, won't be long to I have another one coming for myself.
You got to love the Bagwells, I wouldn't worry Joe bout being a cheerleader for Bill Bagwell. I got accused of that on the British Blade Forum and well there are many worse things that you could be accused of being. Bill embodies to me what it means to be a mastersmith. He's def not a jack of all trades but he def is a MASTER of one; the Bowie.

Love the knife. I think it's first duty should be to chop up that hat :barf: Why isn't your girlfriend modelling the knife? :p

This may sound dumb but...How can one get in touch with Bill Bagwell to have him make a blade?
