Hey all just got my first becker a bk24 and im glad I did as its a great knife. came out of the box shaving sharp and also left a 3/4 inch laceration on the back of my left middle finger... that was this morning as i inspected it. being d2 it has a little rust on a few areas even coming out of the box. not to say I was surprised but maybee was hoping it wouldnt be rusted on receiving it. otherwise its an amazing knife and I can see why all of you like them so much. At work now so pictures are a bit out of the question for today, just wanted to make a splash in the becker forum and see what comes back.

Interesting...I've had D2 knives that I haven't done anything to all the years I've owned them and they never rusted. D2 is so close to being stainless you might as well say it is.

in my experience if it doesn't cut me first unintentionally it ain't truly my knife yet.

=D

i usually end up getting a cut after sharpening or using it straight away. lol.

I'd like to see some pictures of the rust spots. That seems a little uncharacteristic for D2 which is technically not a stainless steel, but pretty dang near it.

I havent even had experiences like that with 1095 etal

slight rust here right where blad and handle/guard come together. trying to get other pictures to work but stupid android phone wont email them to me without trying 6 times this is the first one i could get to send. As for the worst of the rust it is inside the hollow portion of the handle and is currently covered with the chord wrap. might undo it later as i just finished before reading responses.

edit. bandage is way too long for the cut but a bandaid wouldnt keep it from bleeding(I tried it just held for about 3 minutes then started dripping everywhere) and this was the smallest peice of gauze i had in my pack.

Welcome to the forum. Nice knife for the first one. Better stock up on the medical supplies if you decide to buy a BK-9 though.:D

A pic of the 24 with your blood on it would have been an awesome First Becker pic. ;)

Congrats on the blade.

I finally got a 24 and it too had a small amount of surface rust in the same spot and also in the cut out past of the handle.
