Hey guys, after searching armslist for awhile, I finally came into a good deal on a Becker Bk9, the knife I have been dreaming of. It is in like New condition... which is part of my problem. It is a camillus.

Should I go through the hassle of trying to sell or trade it and pick up a kabar, or should i just say to Hell with it and strip the finish and patina?

Is the camillus rare or valuable enough for me to worry about?

Use it!
Bask daily in the glory that is the 9.
Camilus, KaBar, et al...if you sell it off, it will always be "the one that got away"
Welcome to the addiction...I see many more Beckers in your future, they're like potato chips, you can't just have one...

I'd you came across a good deal on the Camillus, why think about selling trading it? Because it is no longer in production, and might have a higher resale value? Don't bother. A new in the box Camillus BK9 is worth more money... but a used one is just another used knife (IMO). Yours is used, and you already have it - why mess around with getting rid of it if you're only going to get another one?

Just my opinion, of course - it's your knife, do what you want with it.

Welcome to the madness, by the way. Have you started thinking about which one to buy next?

Hah! Welcome to the madness my ass! My latest purchase arrived in Australia the other day, and Customs has seized it. Not sure about some of the items, apparently. I ordered a Maxpedition Octa bag, a Photon 2 flashlight, a Fox whistle, a Spyderco bandanna and...wait for it...a Mora Companion and a BK 11!!! I think they didn't recognise the bottle opener on the back of the BK 11, so I am reasonably hopeful of getting everything. So, the moral of that story is, umm, no idea. But enjoy the Becker! If you buy it, that is.

Congratulations on your first Becker! The only possible reason to sell your Camillus and buy a Kabar is the warranty. Camillus is no longer in business and therefore their knives are no longer covered. Kabar has an excellent service department and a very good warranty. I cannot imagine that you will ever break your BK9 so the warranty is kind of a moot point.
If I were you, I'd probably keep it and use it as hard and often as possible.

Keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times and make sure the lap bar is securely fastened. Enjoy the ride.

Sounds good! I am so excited to strip it I can taste it LOL (except under the scales of course)

I traded the knife for an Anza dune field that I paid 80 for a long time ago, and was selling for 50, and 20 bucks :-)

welcome to your new addiction!!! Camillus made great products and their bk9 did not miss that fact. As was mentioned earlier the only reason to get a becker instead would be for warranty..but unless your trying to pry open a safe with that Camillus you shouldnt need to worry about that.

I have a Camillus 9 and I love it, I would trade you my unused kabar 9 for it.

Use it. Unless you are a knife collector, I see no reason to keep it unused. Honest wear is a good thing.

Congrats man! I say use it.

And I would also trade you a new Ka-Bar BK-9 for it. haha

I got to play with ponq's at the gathering and really like it! :)

Wow, when the previous owner said like New... he meant it. There is no way this knife has ever cut anything out doors, there isn't even a speck of dirt in the powder coat...

He did, however, conveniently forget to mention that the grips are missing a screw. Looks like he bought the knife, lost a screw, and forgot about the knife until he needed some $. Oh well.

*the guy is sending me the lost screw, I guess he knows where it is.
