Well after surfing this page olmost daily... I finally took the plunge and bought my first becker today! Its a BK 11 and i will hopefully have it early next week. Pics will definately follow! Now to decide... Do I do a para cord wrap handle or go for some Micarta scales...

Oh and whenever it comes in stock again ill be getting a BK9 to throw on my ruck.

Congrats on the first Becker, and welcome to the forum man :).

With the BK11, I hear its most comfortable with micarta, but then again, I've never handled one before.

My order for the BK9 just got placed today, so hopefully I'll have one of those soon as well :).

Good first BKT choice, brother. Tell you something funny, Uncle Weirdbeard had these thing laying everywhere. If you need a knife and your at E's place, just look in the closest hold you find. There will be a BK11 in it. :D

Not because he has so many, but because they are so handy. Plus, they are a some tough ass little knives.

Enjoy your blade, my friend and don't be a stranger, hang around a while.

Welcome! Para cord wrap while waiting on micarta scales to show up is my suggestion.

There has got to be BK9s available many places....why wait?

Ill start searching around for a set of scales then! Ill try out the paracord at first though.

Im waiting on the BK9 for now because once my local supplier gets them in stock i can save a considerable amount of cash!

Congrats on your first Becker!!! I started with a BK2, but haven't been able to get an 11 yet. It is next on my list, well, that or a 5, or maybe a 9, possibly a 10.........

Micarta for sure. Unaffected by whatever you come in contact with, while paracord tends to soak up nastiness like fish guts, sweat, pond water, et etc etc and can get pretty grimey after a while and youll need to rewrap it. You can find the micarta with a quick Google search, I recommend tomars kabars (dont mind the heavy colonge smell) or there is a popular auction site where you can get the Kabar stuff or custom black or green ones too. Steer clear of a knife shop on a ridge

Welcome man the bk11 is a beast. Check out the " why you (yes you) NEED a bk11 " thread its prob on page 2 or 3 of the forum by now. I'm surfing on my phone or I'd post the link for you

To agree with everyone else, the micarta makes the knife melt into your hand. They are worth the money if you plan on using your BK11 everyday.

Yes sir...carry my BK11 everyday.......Micarta is the way to go.........might want to look at the TDI clip or some leather.....I carry my rear hip everyday via TDI clip....don't even know its there until i need it....Great little knife. Mike

Micarta it is! I may pick up some stock micarta and make my own just to experiment with the stuff. I EDC a Jericoh Wrath ATM but well see if this thing fits my needs really will it may replace it. Definately going to be my go to camping/field knife though !

Hate to beat a dead horse but, yes, micarta is the way to go. It was always hard for me to justify spending about the same amount of money just for handles, but its an investment. The feel of the micarta is unique and will really make the difference after prolonged use.

Handles aren't too hard to make. Make sure you wear a respirator and goggles though when you work with micarta. Don't want to breathe that dust!

This definately does feel like a gateway... Like i said i have the 9 on order so whenever it comes in ill be an owner of 2! Hopefully camping in November so once i get the knife ill be dang sure to post up some pics, and then if i go ill post up some after math camping pics!

Odds are as soon as i get the knife ill be adding some jimping to the back of it too.
