My first Benchmade and third "real" knife is a Bob
Lum Bk760 Lfti. I have always wanted a Benchmade
and I'm extremely happy with the purchase.I bought
the knife used for $150 in excellent condition with
factory edge. Can anyone tell me if this is comparable
to the Sabenza... next on the wish list

Two different classes of knives.

My first question would be, why do you want a Seb?

Lum and Sebenza are like comparing apples to oranges. Benchmade fit and finish is excellent, but it's definitely not on the level of CRK. Not all framelocks are created equal. You will have to handle a Sebenza to really understand the feel of the Sebenza. Just because designs look somewhat similar, it doesn't mean the small details are the same.

I figure since the materials and craftsmanship are close why spend the extra pennies on a Sabenza. This BM locks up like a vault and is sharp, although not as good a slicer as my spyderco military. What do you guys think? Is the sabenza the type of knife you are comfortable carrying on a daily, given its high price?

First, the knife is called the Sebenza not the sabenza. Second, yes it's very comfortable to EDC and worth every penny it costs.

Thanks just wanted to be sure before forking out the extra cash. I carry and use all my knives and love qualty American made products. Seems like I joined the right forum. Thanks for the correction Sebenza by the way lol

Being titanium framelocks is about the only thing those two knives have in common. Steel and blade shapes are quite different. So, to answer your question, I'd say they aren't comparable knives.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, they are just not the same type of cutting tool. I've got a Sebenza, and if I could get my hands on a BM 760 LTi at a decent prize, I'd buy it (I love Bob Lum's factory collaborations with BM and Spyderco).

Materials, yes, but craftsmanship? not so much. Sebenzas are good slicers because they are high hollow grind blades. Lum is pretty thick behind the edge so it's not as good of a slicer; can't judge a knife just by it's sharp edge. Sebenzas are good everyday carry knives and they are users. Are they expensive? yes, but they are high end production knives. A good portion of the members of this forum would carry a Sebenza daily like any other knife. Welcome to the knife world.

I used to EDC a Sebenza but have since moved to a job where that might not be acceptable in the office. I still carry it as much as I can, though. It will hold up to much more than many people believe it would.

Hi Cynic...hard to imagine that a SMALL Sebbie would be found to be "scary" to folks. You must be carrying the large one. I know; I carry a large also; the small gets lost in my hand somewhere.
