Hey guys. I really want my first benchmade. Im thinking Mini-Grip. What do you think of it? What are your other suggestions/reccomendations? How is light blue for the mini grip? Sorry for all the questions, i just want to make sure im satisfied.

I just recently picked up my first Benchmade, a 940, and I'm loving it so far! It's just as slim as a Mini-Grip but with the length of a full-size Grip. Not to mention the super awesome reverse tanto blade shape and S30V steel.

That said, the new 300SN Flipper looks pretty sweet.

I got me a Benchmade Shoki in M390 and Carbon fiber. Best $157.50 I've spent on a knife, it certainly does look and functions better than the Sebenza I own.

I have the Mini Grip, the Grip, and Osborne 943. The mini grip is a great EDC blade in my opinion. It's much smaller that the full grip. It just depends on how you're planning to use it. In any case, I don't think you can go wrong going with the mini grip.

My first and second Benchmade were Mini Grips... ;)

Definitely recommend... Excellent EDC... just feels awesome in the hand.

I gave a blue Mini Grip to my Sister in Law. Personally I don't like the blue but she does... Or at least she says she does and has carried it every day for years now! Personally I have and like the black better. The Mini Grip is a great knife. I'd choose the 940/943 over any Grip if the handles were G10 & the price weren't double. It's a nicer knife for sure but not 2x nicer

Depends on your hand size I'd say, if you wear small or medium size gloves the Mini-grip should work great, if larger or bigger, might think about trying the full size instead. I have two full size grips that I carry often, although my favorite Benchmade currently is the 810.

If choosing a regular production griptillian I'd probably go for the Blue as well since the majority of my knives are Black handled, so when I do get a choice I try to go for some color.

Get the Doug Ritter mini grip in S30V! You will love it! Then save more money and pick up some Wilkins Grips for it!
Good luck!

There isn't anything wrong with the mini grip but it is a bit smaller than I like to carry. I also have moved past the under $100 range for the most part. I just find the designs, materials, and blade steel to be more to my liking in the $100-$200 range. For a Benchmade I would go with a 950 Rift. It has been my overall favorite knife design for quite a few years now and I ALWAYS have one in my RFP. I will carry other knives in different pockets so they get used, but that knife never changes.

Mini-Grip would be a great choice. There are several variations too. Personally, I like the 556 and 558 (drop point and the Ritter variation of it respectively) most.

You get a better blade shape in the Ritter, than the standard, more bucks but worth it. The grind is better(I think) for slicing.
Nice after market scales.

I recently got my first Benchmade, a 707 Sequel. I first ordered a Mini Grip, I researched the knife a lot before I made the purchase. But when I got it the scales wear very rough, to the point were they really want to shed your pants when clipping and un-clipping it from your pocket. The scales also were uncomfortable rubbing against my had when reaching into my pocket. I looked around more and exchanged it for the 707 since it is a similar size and shape. I liked the way the 707 slid on and off my pocket and it wasn't as rough reaching into my pocket. It has G-10 inserts in the scales, but they are really more cosmetic than for providing grip. The anodized finish on the scales is smooth but also provides good grip, and the G-10 insert does not really provide any more grip than the black anodized finish. Both knives were very well made and the fit and finish was great. Also being my first axis lock knife, I must say I love it, the axis lock is tight, smooth, and a joy to use. I have heard a lot of people complain about the factory edge on Benchmade's being a little disappointing, but my 707 is pretty sharp. It's not the best edge I have seen or used, but it will shave, and pass the paper test, which suites my needs.

Just got the light blue mini grip yesterday. I like the color, but it is pretty light. Normally I stick with black handles, but I also have a light blue Delica so thought it would match ok. Can't really comment on the knife as it's gonna go to Benchmade next week for warranty repairs due to binding blade from defect bushings, but I also have the full size grip and Persidio and those are awesome! Kinda big for EDC for me tho.

I have the full size grip and it's size is perfect for EDC. I would imagine that the mini would be too small.

I considered a mini grip when I was looking for a knife in that size range. I compared it back to back with the mini Bone Collector. To me the mini BC seemed like a lot more knife, more than worth the price increase. It just fit my hand better and I liked the blade shape better. I don't have one, but I'd also suggest checking out the Rift.

Thank you everyone for the awesome advice.
