Hey fellas. I just wanted to show off my new Busse. HOFSH LE. That's the model acronym of the Heavy Ordinance, Fusion Steel Heart, Limited edition. It'll probably be called a sharpened prybar by some. I don't care. It's exactly what I like in everything that I own. A industrial strength, heavy duty nature. I buy the same in everything, from rifles, to coffee mugs, etc.

This knife has a monster belly, about 2 inches, and is about 5/16 inch thick at the spine. It makes my hand feel small, but, conversely, I also feel like I got something bad azzz in my hand and like it wants to cut something off or cut through a car door or out of a flooding roof in the middle of a broken levee.

Anyway, I also wanted to say what pleasure it was dealing with the owner of the company, at times directly as well, Mr. Jerry Busse. It's good knowing that the owner himself participates in the forum of his own knife company. I haven't seen this too much from other manufactures. Although I have seen it from some makers here.

I'm getting a sheath from Leatherman/Armorall leather.

Congrats! The HOG FSHs are awsome! I have the same one except it is not a LE.

I really like the 5/16s and magnum slabs!

Already priced it ahead of time. They apparently have made some already so I don't have to send the blade to them. Which I really don't want to stay too far away from me. That was a big fear. If I may use that word.

Congrats on the beautiful blade.

Wait until you get a Battle Mistress, or a BM variant like the Magnum EU-17: there are even bigger Busses out there.

I have several of Dwayne’s sheaths, and they are as tough and well made as the Busses and Swamp Rats I had them made for.

I'll post pics on that too when in. I use the word "apparently" because I won it on Ebay, but haven't received it yet. The steel, I heard is similar to 52100, ball bearing steel, and is 10 inches long with 1/4 inch spine. They don't make them anymore, so it's rare too.

I also may have a Trace Rinaldi, Armageddon, in 3V steel, if he ever gets back to me via email to confirm my order.

Cliff,

You’ve got some great blades heading in your direction.

Whatever SR101 is (52100 or 52100B) the differential tempering (on the big blades), and the proprietary heat treat, seem to get every ounce of performance possible out of the steel.

There were two versions of the Rat Daddy: CG (combat grade with black finish), and LE (with satin finish). Which one are you getting?

Dwayne made sheaths for the Rat Daddy, so you should have no trouble getting a sheath for it.

I'm in the works for leather sheaths for both. I feel like an junkie. What's wrong with me. You know, there are some knife fans at the hospital I work at, a couple of the guy nurses and two ER docs. But some of the ladies have overheard us talking knives and they think that we're some kind of wierdo's. I think that some may even be afraid that we might snap and start hacking away at folks.

That really alarms me. Because some people never will understand a passion for something. I now keep my knife conversations on the down low.

Cliff,

I teach at a very nice University, but sadly it is a place in which discussing blades is not a good idea.

According to most of my colleagues knives are weapons. I wonder if they worked this out on their own?

I got my first Swamp Rat in August 2004, and my first Busse in October 2004. I now have 3 Rats (and one on the way), and 3 Busses (and 2 on the way).

Welcome to the Rat/Busse addiction.

No, they believe just about everything the liberal, politically correct media tells them, without giving it any critical thought at all. They look at a large knife and think "why would anyone need a knife like THAT", and without further thought automatically assume the worst. Would they have the foresight to have a knife that they could use to free themselves from a wrecked vehicle or the attic of a flooded house (as happened to some people in the New Orleans flood after hurricane Katrina) - of course not, that is what cell phones are for (so they think)! Many people are not self reliant enough to find their way out of a wet paper bag, let alone a real emergency. They believe the "government", whether it is local, state or federal, is responsible for taking care of them; this belief is shared by many people from the very poor, less educated to the very wealthy and well educated.

Congratulations Cliff - both the Busse knife and Leatherman sheath are excellent products!
