After a weekend of some yard work, I decided I needed a good chopper. Based on the reviews on this forum, a BK9 sounds like it will fill the bill quite nicely, with a lot of versatility to fill quite a few other roles.
I should receive "The King" this coming Wednesday, and pit it against the central Texas hack-berry sapling that's blocking my view of the sunrise from the patio this weekend.
Now, I don't plan on using the BK9 exclusively for this kind of work. A Silky Pocketboy 170 is on the way, too (also as a result of some comments on this forum). I anticipate that there will be quite a few jobs that the Silky would be a better tool for the job. Maybe it's just me, but sawing through a piece of wood doesn't seems to satisfy some dormant primal urge like schwacking it with a big hunk of sharp metal does.
I've got a feeling I'm going need to make some space for some more Beckers.
