Well, not really an adventure, but damn, there is a lot of cool stuff here. I have spoken with Gil Hibben, Kikuo Matsuda(well, our conversation was translated), SOG's owner, and several other notable knife people. And then there was Busse... My first taste of the Busse booth with the other 5000 VIPs left me sort of angry. Anything that even remotely resembled an FBM was purchased in bulk...and I will leave it at that. I had to go check out the rest of the show before I came back to a thinner Busse crowd.
What I found were several really cool people that were down to earth and really excited to be there. Garth went out of his way to come out of the booth and talk to me for a few minutes about everything Busse. That was just plain cool. I took the time to compliment Beef on his blade grinding skills and poke fun at his dual blade get-up made up the smallest two blades in the booth. He explained to me that its all he needs to be a badass. I had no room to disagree. Didn't have a chance to BS with Pokey or Lexi yet, but there is always tomorrow. I met Jaxx, 1whobuys, and a few others, everyone was cool.
And then there was dericdesmond. I had no idea what to expect as we had a somewhat questionable disagreement on reselling practices. Within in the first few minutes of meeting him after having have a black/yellow G10 FBM bounce off my hands all I can say is: what a nice guy. We worked out a trade for the FBM he caught (fair and square mind you) for some of the smaller knife vouchers I caught. I heard a story earlier about him offering up some waki's he was buying to someone else that wanted them. We BS'd for awhile and had a few good laughs.
The Busse mosh pit is not that bad. I saw a small child get knocked around and an elbow cut open (not by a knife), but other than that, its all been tame. Granted, the locker room smell and stuffiness was effecting everyone in the building so hopefully the AC is working better tomorrow. I am putting on extra deodorant just in case. I didn't wait around to see where the after party was, I needed to get some food. Its amazing how long you can go without eating at the Blade show.
See you guys tomorrow!!
