Hi guys,

Here is a blade I ground from .250" 1095 that was just sent out for heat differential treat.
Specs:
1095
Approx 5" Full Tang
Approx 9" recurve flat ground blade with convex edge
Simple vine file work on tang (what makes the tang look a little funny in the pictures)
Distal taper
Balance 1.5" in front of your index finger.

In the photos the blade has been hand rubbed to 180 grit.
I'd love your thoughts!
Craig

Nice work mate, everything seems clean and straight, nice practical design too, wish my first attempt had been that good. Only small critique I would make is the grind has gone so high it has "broken" the spine, some people don't mind or even like it but I think it looks nicer if it finishes in that nice little radius. Not breaking the spine with the grind is something I still struggle with too, well. Now wack a handle on and post some more pics.

I've got a couple really nice stabilized maple burl slabs I was thinking about with some red liners and either stainless corby bolts or mosaic pins.

I did break the spine a little on this and agree on the radiused plunge but I only have a 1x42 grinder and was to afraid of messing it up trying to thin the tang to bring the radius back. So either I need to be more careful next time or get a 2x72.
