I met a lot of outstanding people at the BLADE SHOW over the weekend, but maybe the nicest was John C. Howser, custom knifemaker from Frankfort, Kentucky.
We really seemed to hit it off, and I had trouble deciding which of his beautiful knives to purchase, but this one came out winners.
Elliott, Jerry Halfrich and Lee Grogan all had very nice things to say about both John and this knife (i.e. " . . . a LOT of knife for the money!").
See what you think for yourself; I couldn't be happier.
Genuine natural stag lockback trapper with stainless raindrop damascus swedged clip, leather lanyard and slipcase.
Length closed is 4 inches, open 7-1/8 inches, and it weighs 3-9/16 ounces.
Blade lays perfect center, very even grinds, and makes an incredible "ting" when it locks up.
Mr. Howser and myself have decided, being soft-spoken gentlemen, to call this a chess piece shield. There . . .
