I'm looking to buy a Boker Congress in Carbon steel, but while websearching I am having trouble on some websites telling the German made Bokers from the Argentine and Chinese made.

Anyone know how to tell from a picture? Or can I tell by model number?

These Large 4 1/8 Congress patterns are the ones I am mainly interested in.

BO5474ST Stag
BO5474TSR Red Bone

Also are the "Grand Canyon" series knives German?

Confederate,
The models you listed, as well as the Grand Canyons are German.
The Chinese ones are listed as Magnums, and start with an SC, as
an example SC101.

Thanks alot TJT, that will make it much easier. I don't know alot about Boker's, this will be my first to buy, I actually have a veyr old Boker Scout knife that belonged to my Grandfather, but it doesn't get carried for fear of losing it.

That BO5474ST Stag looks really tempting!

They are nice knives.
That is part of an exclusive run for Smokey Mountain.
Hope you get one, and like it.

HMM....I found it on www.discountcutlery.net, is that the same one that is exclusive to SMKW?

I've never ordered from the discount place, I'll check SMKW, I always get wiggy ordering form someplace new, I like SMKW.

Thanks!

TJT, thanks for your help today, on a goof I searched Ebay tonight and found this Grand Canyon bone Congress about to end real cheap, so I tossed in a bid and got it for only 24.51. Looks like a nice knife.

Thanks again for such prompt answers to my questions today!

NICE, is that red bone handles or wood?

It is rosewood, they had a small two bladed copperhead in red bone and stainless steel which was very nice (model 2626, you can see it here), I had trouble deciding which one to get.

Yeah, that wold have been a tough choice. I need to put a whittler in my collection, that's another pattern I don't own.

My Boker should be here Monday or Tuesday, can't wait!

My Grand Canyon Bone Congress arrived today, and it's a great knife for sure! I posted more about it in the "traditional" forum, but wanted to drop in to the Boker forum also.

One beautiful knife all around!
